“great spot to stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

As a solo traveller I had a great stop here. Booked a motel room with ensuite which was old, but very tidy and there was plenty of tea and coffee provided. The owner was very hospitable as I had a good bar meal and drink in the pub. Would stop here again.

We booked ahead and the room was explained to us, double and single bed with ensuite. When we arrived we were surprised at the size of the room, and there were two single beds, plenty of room if you we're travelling with a family. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. The air conditioner had been turned on and although the outside temperature was around 46C inside was pleasant. The reception we received was friendly and welcoming. We had a meal in the hotel section and both the roast and stir-fry were of good quality. Well done to the staff here as this is a very isolated spot, even if it is on the main highway. The swimming pool was a pleasant break from the heat.

Room Tip: We stayed in an ensuite room, there is one larger executive room. The ensuite rooms are good.

We stayed with our Challenger here for one night on the way to Coober Pedy. Showers are ok and site is good with a pool. The pub is the best place to have fun and get a good beer during Happy Hour.

We had been travelling through Australia - on this leg we had driven north from Coober Pedy ....a long way though the heart of the bush. The great thing about this place was that it was just what you expect - an outback station! Basic, not frills but it had its own atmosphere........ the bar was full of locals. It was BBQ evening and for $10 you could join in. The wine was cheap, a bit rough but ok. I spoke to the owner. He used to be the local policeman until he retired. Not like an English policeman. He was the only representative of the law for hundreds of miles!

We had a cabin for the night, these were all set out in the grounds - again I use the word basis but everything worked. There was a pool - shaded with netting so quite good. we talked to a Dutch couple who were travelling in their motor home - a relaxing chat by the pool.

All in all - jest what you wanted for a stop over. The next day we drove onto Ayers Rock (Uluru)
