“Thanks for going the extra distance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

On arriving we made our way to our campsite where we were greeted by one of the most helpful staff we have ever come across whilst camping. Gary went way beyond to assist in making our stay in Katherine an enjoyable and memorable experience. Thanks Gary.

Office staff- rude rude rude (happy to take your money tho)
Fellow campers- almost got into a fight with the guy next to us who thought he had the right to park his car in our allocated campsite (when asked politely by my wife if he could please move his car he had a hissy fit swearing & carrying on) this guy was obviously a permanent resident of the park who for some reason thought he was the owner.
Amenities- filthy unlockable showers, no hand towel, used bars of soap in the Pidgeon hole brickwork from god knows when.
Not to mention the uncomfortable feeling of being stared at an whispered about whilst trying to enjoy the hot springs which were actually quite cold.
I suggest the 29km drive to nitmuluk campsite where there is a very pleasant atmosphere including friendly wildlife.

We hired a family cabin/donger and loved it. The cabin/donger had its own small shower area, was nice and clean, good size for 5 people (2 adults and 3 children). This parks backs onto a Hot Spring, we loved the spring, just amazing. The pool area looks nice, small but nice and under shade. Staff we've very friendly.

What a terrible experience this was . We were on an unpowered site right down the back, not a blade of grass just grey dustbowl with no shade. Noisy from truck yard close by and dogs. Had our little dog with us and he was very unhappy here also. Crammed in small sites a bit of lawn would have been nice looked good on the outside take a tour in before you pay your hard earned as this park is a shocker! we stayed in loads of parks and this is one of the worst one! no peace here do yourself a favour dont go :(

I have stayed at probably more than 40 caravan parks, and I can say without doubt this is the worst one I have ever been to.

To say the staff are rude is an understatement, hostility is the more appropriate word. To get them to even look at you when entering the office is a task itself. Don't expect any smiles.

The sites are probably the smallest I have seen. If you are in a small tent/van, they sell your site again (to share).

Racist comments such as 'coon' are quite frequently used by the staff. A blade of grass is totally out of the question (it grows well outside of the park so soil isn't a problem).

Facilities are in bad shape, not a single please or thank you on any signs, just a load of exclamation marks.
If anything is broken (lights etc) it is usually bottom of the owner (waz, the most hostile man) priorities.

All i can say, is don't stay here if you want to be somewhere pleasant.

When booking in i felt extrely uncomfortable as the man at reception was staring straight at my chest. When we arrived at the site there was a car on our site the camper politely explained he just presumed it was for his car. The camp site was so ridiculously small that we have had sites probably about 5 times as big in other standard parks. Showers were also tiny and cramped you even had to get dressed in a communal area. The plus side was that you are very close to beautiful hot springs and it had a great pool.
