while not quite on the border, i guess less then 1k from the border with Arnhem land allows it to use the name border store, the name store, also a bit deceptive because its so much more then just a store. the place did not look like much from the outside but we dropped in to pick up a cool drink after visiting Ubirr & noticed the menu full of thai food which got us curious & hungry, at first advised the kitchen would be closed for 15min while the cook took a break, we looked over to see a Thai lady, the cook, having lunch, we thought we would wait & try out this place. we were not disappointed.
the thai beef salad & the chilli fried rice we ordered were very tasty & as good as any thai food i have tasted as were the curry puffs, the rest of the menu looked promising & we wish we were here longer to sample the rest of the menu.
this place also offered cakes & coffee along with all the other general goods a corner store offers, no alcohol here but the service was great, the couple who run it, the cook & a nice guy who was happy to have a chat with anyone just adds to the character of this place.
if you are up here, stop in for a feed or coffee, its well worth it & the price is reasonable for these parts, $50 for the 2 of us. i will come back for the food
