“whitebait lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Went there for lunch twice in the last week. Beautiful fresh West Coast whitebait cooked to perfection. The setting def helps sitting on the deck watching all the sea side action in front of you sailing, yachting and ships coming and going. Couldn't fault the food attentive service. Would def recommend if you are visiting Nelson

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We enjoyed the Trust the Chef menu, found the staff friendly, and as a special treat, a pod of orcas swam by while we were eating.

“Magic lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Been here for lunch a couple of times recently and it has been spot on. The folks in the kitchen really know how to cook fish. It is very simple and allows the ingredients to speak for themselves. Add to that a wine list that covers local goodies as well as some of the best in NZ (especially the whites), and all accompanied by good attentive service. Then add the views from the deck and you have a memorable meal.

“Given the location should be so much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Revisited after a couple of years, as a group of six, sat in the upper room (which does have nice views). Waiting staff were OK, functional rather than friendly. Food relatively plentiful but really does lack finesse, and for the money they charge really is not distinguished enough (my pork belly main was frankly disappointing, though the prawn salad starter was tasty). Good wine list. Still a big gap between the offerings here and Nelson's top restaurant (Hopgoods).
