“a perfect place for a perfect slumber!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

I spent one night at Accents on the park, and what a delight........ It was like walking into a nice home, the decor clean, cosy, smart, classy. I have a double room, a good bed, warm, quiet. A wonderful funky wee bar downstairs below, I couldn't hear a thing from it. Royce the manager a lovely lovely man......I would definately stay there again.

Accents is a great place and the notion that if you have a nice and tidy place people will respect that and keep the place nice. Compared to other places I've been recently this was hands down the best. Comfy, cosy, welcoming and extremely well run place. Felt welcome and disappointed to only stay one night.

Nelson itself is a lovely town, they must put something in the water as everyone was tremendously kind.

After a couple of nights on the road this was a much needed comfort. We got a private room and it was really nice, well kept and very clean. Even using their camping area was pleasant. Staff were amazing and very accommodating. Help you book lots of things to do while in Nelson.

Compared to other hostels in Nelson, Accents is not very good value for money. The kitchen is too small, but the eating area is large enough. They are very stinging with thier free coffee and tea, which are available only at breakfast. They offer free bread and margarine for breakfast (make sure you get up early or it will run out, as they put out only 6 loaves). The cafe/bar is nicely decorated and was not too noisy. The bathrooms on the 3rd floor are the best/cleanest. Overall average stay. I also stayed at Paradiso and Tasman Bay and would recommend Paradiso.

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. As you noted we are not the Party Hostel in Nelson and your kind words about our cafe are appreciated.
We have taken your other comments very seriously and will look at how we distribute the morning Bread delivery better to ensure it lasts longer for all our guests to enjoy each day.
Unfortunately we have found some travellers have not always considered others and have taken a loaf (and sometimes two) with them lately meaning the 10 loaves we put out each morning do go a little quicker some days than others. This also seems to happen occassionally with the Tea and Coffee we offer. I do hope you will try us again to see our improvements.

Recently my sister & I stayed at Accents on the Park where we had a wonderful time. The staff is very friendly and helped with planning activities. The facility is also very clean. Nelson is a beautiful area, with Accents located in a great spot close to shops and cafes.

My boyfriend and I pitched our tent in the little grassy yard behind the hostel for two nights before heading out to tramp in the area. Although the price seemed a bit high for just a piece of grass behind the bar (noisy), the location was great in the heart of the city. The washroom facilities of the hostel were nice and clean, but the kitchen area got really crowded at dinner times.

I booked for 3 nights in the Accents on the Park and stayed 5 nights, as the weather was not on the mood for Abel Tasman and the hostel was really sweet.

The rooms of 6 are usual, clean and comfy but a little bit small, but everything is very nice :
- The dining room is very big and the tables outside are great for sunny days
- The bar included (near the dining room) is cool (and i like the decoration)
- If you are an early bird, there is fresh bread and philadephia every morning (verrrry good).

The only "minus" point is the CRAZY price of Internet : ok, you get 1h free every day but if it's raining all day it is not too much and the price to pay for a full day of internet is clearly increadible.
Hopefully, on the other side of the main street (around 10 min walk, next to the countdown) there is a big library with free internet, which can save your boring and rainy days ^^

For booking activities AOTP is also really convenient : they booked everything for me and gave me lot of advices to help me choose my path in Abel Tasman.

I recommand the place to meet nice people, rest, and use as a base to the National Park
