“divine breads!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

wonderful service, great coffee, delicious bread! Heartily recommend the 'avo on toast' which was gorgeous with the addition of lemon juice and olive oil.

“Authentic bakery and great coffee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Coffee and custard buns were so delicious we made a special trip here when we returned to Nelson. We bought really cute tea towels with sheep on them and Lingonberry sauce to take home. The cinnamon rolls were still soft and tasty the next day for breakfast too and we loved the hint of cardamom! It's a busy but delightful cafe.

“Gingerbread cookies - fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Can't say much because by the time we got there they were nearly sold out of everything (advice - get there before 9 am).

“Very tasty bread”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

Popped by a couple of times during my visit to Nelson.

The rye bread was particularly enjoyable, as was a custard bun. The biscuits were ok.

I eould have stopped and had a coffee there but no room for a pram as only a tiny shop with a few seats.

Service on both occasions was not up to scratch and let them down. Just disinterested teenage girls (or very young adult!) both times who had no idea how to greet or attend to a customer. It was as if I was inconveniencing them. On the first visit the young lady was sweeping the floor and was right near rhe door, yet let me struggle to open it and get in with a large pram.

Service aside, the bread was great!

“thumbs up for the sourdough bread”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Since moving to NZ from Europe there is nothing I miss more than good bread with a proper crust and texture, bread that lasts more than a day!

The sourdoughs at The Swedish Bakery & Cafe remind me of the loafs my grandma used to bake on her farm. There's nothing better than a slice of fresh sourdough with just butter, or butter and honey, or cheese, or nutella, or butter and salami... I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Great excitement also that they have introduced Brezels and Laugen-buns although those need a bit of refining especially at the high price they sell them for.
