“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

The best hostel I have stayed in so far! Incredible service, free tea, coffee and desert :) such a warm homely feel with a lovely dining room, lounge and 2 kitchens. I would recommend this hostel to everyone!

We stayed in a private twin en suite room with an outdoor area which was pleasant. Not too noisy at the time and hostel is convientely located with about a 10-15min walk into town. Good atmosphere even though it is small. The owner, Dutch, was very polite and hospitable and could organise any tours you wanted though at the time we have already planned our tours. The free chocolate pudding and ice cream is fantastic, tastes good and something to look forward to in the evenings. Overall a great stay. Make sure you talk the valley walk to Matai Valley along the river and into the countryside and do a picnic or something, its a great walk.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at Tasman Bay for 2 nights, 1 either side of doing the Abel Tasman Coast Track. We thought the hostel was awesome and the private room we had did the job and had a heater in the room which turned out to be very necessary on one of the nights.
The hostels staff were really cool and helpful and at 8pm every night there was chocolate pudding which we sadly missed both times.
The location was pretty good as well, it is around a 5 minute walk to town and the bus stop is very close and located just behind the i-site. Around the corner is also the Foundary Heritage Park which is surprisingly interesting and has a micro-brewery inside.

To get to Abel Tasman we went with Abel Tasman Coachlines for $20 per person one way which picked us up and dropped us off at our hostel which was very handy.

This is a great place to stay! It a small hostel in a nice, quiet neighbourhood, in walking distance from the center of Nelson (about 10 minutes). The place is just lovely! The staff is so friendly and the free chocolate pudding at night is very nice! The kitchen is spacious and very clean, and the common room very cosy and a great place to chat with other travellers. The bathrooms are clean as well. The dorm I stayed in was nice and spacious, some beds a bit around the corner so it was actually like a 4 bed dorms instead of a 6 bed dorms, I loved that!

You just notice when people have a hostel because they love it and not just to make money out of it. Free wifi, free chocolate pudding and icecream and always a smile behind the reception desk. So helpful and friendly. It was really an amazing stay!
