“Good Clean Stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2008

The location is excellent for the airport and so was the pick up and drop off service.

The rooms are clean and quiet and above average for a motel.

We stayed on our outward journey and ate at the Bah & Grill, which was very average.

On our return journey we went to the Chancellor which was much better than the Bah & Grill.

The service at BK's was very good and we would definitely recommend this as a stop over place to stay.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and convenience
  • Disliked — Location as there was a lack of good reasonable cafe's or restaurants

Needed a hotel near Auckland Airport for early morning departure. Chose this hotel on Wotif based on 4-star classification, although there were decent 3-star properties for less. I really question the rating given. As per the other reviews, everything was friendly. The room was well laid out, although the furniture was a bit basic. The free internet was great, as was the airport shuttle service.
Our main complaints were:

1. There was no airconditioining, although there was a fan. The humidity was stifling.
2. The window blinds were not opaque. There was a glow all night, which I found to be annoying.
3. The walls were hollow and allowed more noise from the road than I would have thought reasonable.

  • Liked — Friendly property close to airport
  • Disliked — Lack of air-con, and curtains which were not opaque

This is a clean, quite new motel only 3 minutes from the airport terminal. Staff members are friendly, and a free airport collect/
drop-off shuttle is provided. Broadband internet access is included at no additional cost. The motel has no restaurant, but will deliver breakfast to your room.

There is a small collection of shops about 100 metres down the road, where you can buy most essential items (including breakfast ingredients) from a minimart. There are also 2 reasonable restaurants in this cluster, one run by a slightly crazy Greek guy called Nikos, and the other an Indian curry house. Staff say to avoid the 'Family Restaurants' across the road, a comment echoed by another guest that we met.

By all accounts, Auckland airport motels are not a highlight of this town, but this one is good without being anything spectacular, and is clean and comfortable.

After a long flight into Auckland, the rapid response of the free pick-up service was very welcome.

Arriving at the lodge, the service was very friendly and effecient, and it wasn't long until we were resting tired muscles in our rooms great spa bath. Everything was clean, tidy and the room was comfortably furnished.

The kitchen was reasonably equipped, with a supermarket located close by, and also a restaurant.

For its airport convenience, friendly service and good value for money, BK's gets the thumbs up.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2007

We stayed at BK's for one night after flying in from Chicago. We booked a "deluxe spa suite" accommodation. This turned out to be a small room with a "spa" bathtub. The place is new and it shows but the furnishings, excluding the recliners, are basic to the point of absurdity. The "spa" bathtub is in fact a very large Jacuzzi-type tub. The TV is mounted near ceiling level because the room is too small to put it anywhere else. Deluxe is not an appropriate term to use here. Normally a suite means two rooms or at least a sitting area separated from the bedroom. When I questioned the managers about the fact that I had booked a suite they said that is what I got. If I wanted a separate sitting area "I should have booked a one bedroom suite". They claim that in NZ a suite is just a room. During our travels in NZ I questioned several people (all Kiwis) about what a suite is in NZ. In every case I was told that it is separate sitting and sleeping facilities. Do not be fooled by the use of the terms "deluxe" and "suite" in the room descriptions--neither is applicable.

  • Liked — Proximity to the Auckland Airport
  • Disliked — I think the accommodations are misrepresented with terms like "deluxe" and "suite".

We stayed in this hotel recently for one night on the way from Sydney to Tahiti and another on our return. This hotel is comfortable and clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The response to our call from the airport for a shuttle was very quick on both occassions. The bus stop is directly out the front if you wish to go in to Auckland.
We highly recommend this hotel and do not feel you could do better if you are needing a room close to the airport..

Had an overnight in Auckland on my way to Sydney, so needed somewhere handy to the airport. Free internet access AND free airport pickup/drop-off couldn't be beaten at this price!

My room had a comfy recliner chair, and a spa bath. Tastefully decorated, fresh and modern. The biggest bonus was the super-friendly owners, who made my trip a pleasure and were more than happy to help with recommendations, information and a chat.

I'll definitely be staying here for my next trip out of Auckland later in the year!
