“Tasty Indian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

We went here with a party of 3 including one teenager. The food here is delicious, the butter chicken is creamy with flavour, the teenager loved it. The naan bread was hot out of the oven, we thought it was the best part of the meal. Service was by the owner, must have been a slow night. He is a friendly guy and made us feel welcome.

4 excellent curries naan raita 2 glasses of wine and 2 soft drinks cost $100, above average for Portland but very reasonable as far as Indian restaurants go. We will go there again.

“Curry with style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Northern Indian menu great food with not too much heat unless you want it. Also do take away.
OK for smaller groups up to 20 as space is limited. Owner and staff very helpful and pleasant.

“Good but not spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Went as part of a group on a cold night. Air con was not on in the room allocated so the area was not preheated. Although setting it going straight away it took a while to warm up. Unfortunately the room set aside was on the way to the toilet which was outside, so every time someone went there was gale blowing through. Apart from the ambience there was much to praise the Seaview.

Service was very good given the size of the group [18] and the variation in the orders. The menu looks like it is large but in reality it reflects the variations on the basics, chicken, lamb ,beef and seafood done in a number of ways - indian style.

My entrée of lamb cutlets was superb. Three cutlets done in a spicy and piquant way and just cooked right. Excellent. My main of mango chicken was quite tasty, nicely spiced but a bit light on volume wise. Could have had a bit more chicken Rice [ saffron ] comes separately and is passable without being anything special for the price [$4.50] Garlic naan was excellent, lots of garlic -yum.

My partners chicken tikka entrée was quite acceptable and the main of lamb vindaloo [ ordered hot came as ordered ] and was AOK. Serve again was a little on the small side.

Overall, a welcome addition to Portland dining and just needs to be tweaked with regard to ambience. A special word of praise for the young lady who coped with the numbers very well and quietly without being obtrusive. Management, don't let her go !
