We stayed in Boat Harbour Resort in Feb 2007. The rooms were spacious but the service at reception was a little frosty (not sure why??!!) We were also asked to pay money upfront before check in.
Upon departure day we were asked to vacate the room (literally 15 mins) after check out time at 10am. Even though they admitted they were very quiet with few bookings.
The location is not great either. You are literally miles from shops and any nightlife. There are other resorts elsewhere on Hervey bay which are a bit less remote. Since most Fraser Is. trips offer free transfers it doesnt matter if you are close to the Marina or not.
I wouldnt go back although the rooms were quite big. As the location and price were not great.

Management response from Auzkiwi, Owner Managers
(Management representative)
Jul 4, 2007
We feel very upset with this persons review, particually when we know that we are not expensive considering what we offer our guests and this is born out by the other reviews written on this site and many others.
We also as a husband & wife team take great care in making sure our guests are well looked after & comfortable and go out of our way to ensure no one has reason to not want to return. We pride ourselves on this.
Our return clientel is very high so we must be on the right track, and as all the other reviews below this one bear this out we believe this one review to be unfair and unwarranted. Also it is the practice with all managed motels & resorts here in Hervey Bay, that guests pay for the accommodation on arrival.

Stayed in the Boat Harbour Resort for 2 nights in September last year. Found the accommodation on the internet & booked with the resort directly. We booked a 2 bedroom villa for 4 of us & were quoted $300 for the stay.

We arrived in Hervey Bay after an overnight bus from Airlie Beach. We got a taxi from the bus station & I think it cost us about $30. We didn't realise the resort was as far away from it as it took a good 15 minutes and seemed to be getting further away from the centre. Although Hervey is a big place, to me it realy is only used as a stopover for Fraser Island, as there is not much to do at all. I had stayed there once before in a hostel and felt the same the last time also.

When we arrived, we were too early to check in, but we had known about this in advance. We were told however that they did not have a 2 bedrm villa for us anymore but that they would supply us two different villas for the same price they had quoted us. This was fine as we were 4 adults & it would give us more privacy anyway.
When we got to check in to our villas we were pleasantly surprised. Spacious, nicely equiped and nicely decorated. Our villa had a pool view which our Mum was jealous of. There were some building works going on when we were there & we believe another pool is getting built. The pool was lovely & my Mum & I did sit down by it for a little while.

The other day we were in Hervey we went on a one day trip to Fraser Island/Lake McKenzie which was really good. The owners Rosalind & Robin arranged it for us & I think it cost us around $155 each. That was an early morning pick up & drop off at night. I would recommend it & also the scenic flight over Fraser that you get the option to do for around $60.

Both evenings we went along to the Boat Club & had a meal & drinks there which were lovely and very reasonable. There didn't seem to be too much else round about within walking distance so that suited us fine.

Overall the Boat Harbour Resort was a nice small place, good price & was fine for a couple of nights when we just wanted to use it as a base for going to Fraser Island.

We had a short, one night stay here in early November. Good location if you are getting the boat to Fraser Island, the marina is about 5 minutes walk.

We had a very large room which was clean and tidy. Good sized bed and more than adequate facilities. Air-conditioning was hugely appreciated. We were only here a few hours but the pool looked ok and they were building another one.

No complaints at all. Staff were very helpful when we checked in.

in hervey(pronounced:"harvey")bay the tourist is the holy grail-maybe its because the town/city of 50,000 is totally uninteresting unless you use it as a departure point for fraser island(worlds largest sand island) or close encounters with whales during the months of august thru october.overnight accomodation thus becomes critical and the modern apartments provided by boat harbour resort are well situated to fill your requirements at an economical price.i was able to purchase a full kitchen double bedded plus single with frig and air conditioning through wotif early november for A$86 a night.the swimming pool was clean and enjoyable and the location opposite the great sandy straits was only 400 meters from the wharf for fraser island and the boat slots club which ran a free pick up and drop back mini bus service which proved very handy for those evening meals i did not cook..managment were always helpfull ,especially arranging tours-the kingfisher bay fraser tour picks you up at 6.15 am-drops you back at 6pm HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,and if you eat at rsl slots club they also pick you up and you can do limited shopping at coles supermarket before they bring you back.feel like a half day fishing trip for A$55? managment will arrange that and they have a barbecue near their swimming pool.airport transfers are A$5 and a limo to take you(one way) anywhere in hervey bay is a paltryA$9...
