“Feels like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Probably the best hostel we have stayed in after travelling for several weeks. Does not feel like a hostel, more like an apartment. Full kitchen facilities, nice and clean, no bunk beds. Staff very helpful and friendly, free bikes were available which was handy to get from a to b.
The place was not over crowded and we ended up booking an extra night because we loved it so much.
It has a large balcony to chill out and relax chatting with other backpackers.
Short distance from the beach, shops and restaurants. It is a quiet place though but the area is a beautiful place. Met loads of different and great people within the complex, would definitely stay again and would recommend anyone to stay here!

Really lovely friendly hostel, with loads of facilities to offer, really good value for money, will definitely stay here again if I'm up in this direction, does nt remind me of a hostel at all a++++.
Feels so homely with free wifi free computer access, free use of bikes, full kitchen facilities, chilled out atmosphere...

The place was quite nice. The concept of small units, each having a few rooms and a shared kitchen was refreshing (although, traveling solo, I would like to have a common lounge for all the guests, to make it easier to meet people)

My personal experience was a bit disappointing though. The owner was 35 min late in picking me up from the bus stop. It would be ok if he would have called and let me know he was going to be late.

When we arrived to the hostel, he told me that he moved me from a 3 dorm room to a 4 dorm room for the first night. He apologized for this, but offered no compensation (to be fair, both rooms are priced the same).

The last thing is that the bicycle for hire were in a really really bad condition. The gears they used to have wouldn't work, and in a few the brakes wouldn't work either. The Helmets were in a really bad condition as well.

The owner told me he was going to buy new bicycles in a few days, but I don't know if that happened.

I think that was just a really bad experience and not the average experience in this place, but I can say that I didn't fully enjoyed my stay.

Best hostel experience we've had in Australia. Our private double room featured a king size bed, teddy bear and sweeties on our pillows.

The bathroom was shared and was spotlessly clean, and there was a kitchen too although we didn't use it.

Wifi was free and of a comfortable speed.

Our one complaint would be the air con. The room is advertised as having air con, which is why we chose this hostel. It does have an air conditioner but we couldn't use it as there was no way to plug it in. There was a short wire leading from the machine and no sockets nearby. The extension cords provided were stuck to the bedside tables (presumably to counter theft?) and so couldn't be lifted to supply power to the air con.

We were in unit 3, room 6. If you're given this room on arrival, ask what the Craic is with the aircon.

This was very good value, which is why I have rated this as excellent. The hostel is divided into several self contained flats, which makes sharing facilities a lot more manageable. Also the owner keeps the hostel very clean, which must be a challenge considering the hygiene standards of some of the other guests we saw.

The owner was courteous and knowledgeable. Free bikes were available which was nice, as we enjoyed being able to cycle around the bay. The location was good, with a short walk or cycle to the beach, shops and bars. Internet speed was excellent.

Comfortable and very very clean. Far more privacy than other hostels due to separate apartment style units. Great location, bikes on loan, really helpful owner. Really loved this place would highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet place to stay!

Room Tip: No pool but could not remove this from the rating once I clicked on it :)

This is one of the best hostels we've stayed at while traveling up the east coast. Friendly owner, great location, free internet, cosy room, can't fault it! Free bikes are a great way to explore the town. Wish we could have stayed longer! Highly Recommended!
