My parents and I recently stayed here for one night during our 20-day roadtrip around New Zealand. We stayed in a studio room.
We arrived at the motel at around 6:30pm, and there was no one at the reception. This doesnt normally bother me, and the lady who attended us was an easy phone call away. She was polite and showed us to our room, however she felt somewhat distant and in a hurry to leave.
We had a ground unit (Rm 5) which seemed to be designed as a disabled access unit. Maybe this was the reason but the bathroom sink and the toilet was bit low and slightly awkward. The drain in the shower was not working properly and this was really kinda gross when we were showering.
Other than that the room was really nicely decorated and looked pretty fancy. The beds were very comfortable. There was noise from the road + trains but not enough to disturb my sleep.
Overall Im not sure why the other tripadvisor reviews have been so good. Perhaps if we booked a more expensive room we would have had better experience. I wouldnt mind staying here again, but I would probably look into other choices next time I come through.
