“Fantastic view, nice self contained rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

I think you always take a risk when booking b&b's. I'm pleased to say not any of these problems with this location. We were in a room on the first floor. It was exceptionally clean and had a great view of the Kaikoura coastline. Bed was extremely comfortable and the property is a close 5 minute walk to local restaurants in the main street.

Very friendly hosts who made sure we were happy. Great breakfast!. If you want a good nights stay at a good price we can recommend Bendamere.

We wanted to swim with the dolphins and just happened upon this B&B. It couldn't have been a nicer choice. The breakfasts were lovely and sitting at a communal table gave us a chance to meet people and learn of their adventures. The hosts were a delight and extremely helpful. The rooms were lovely, clean and with great views.

We were there during the Christchurch earthquake--on our way to Christchurch the next day-the next day and they were so special in helping us make alternate arrangements and in accommodating us for an extra night.

Room Tip: We stayed in a number of rooms and each was lovel.

I did not book this accommodation so I really did not know anything about it when we arrived.

This was the first B&B we had stayed at in our months stay in New Zealand, and to be honest I was not looking forward to it as I preferred to have a kitchen in motels and more flexability.

But I'm glad we did!!

We were met by Julie with a warm welcome and shown to our room.... I did not even notice what the room was like as the view just took my breath away. The sea and the mountains in the distance...wonderful.

On to the room though, spacious, modern with tea/coffee facilities also a toaster with plates and cutlery which I thought was a nice touch in a B&B. Wine glasses were also provided (which of course we made use of later on) along with some delicious home made shortbread. Small hanging space though.

Shower room small but all you needed and nice to have a window. All the accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy.

There was a balcony shared with the room next door with a table and chairs. You could also sit in the garden which was very well tendered.

We walked into town which took about 15 mins had a look around, bought some nice wine to have on the balcony of course!

We sat outside (it was a tad chilly) and watched the sun go down. We left the window open all night wanting to hear the sea also leaving the curtains open the view was just to good not too!

We were welcomed the next morning by dolphins playing in the sea, sitting up in bed watching...fantastic (us not them!!).

All the guests have breakfast together in the family kitchen. Home made treats are available as well as fruit and a cereal and toast. I would of preferred to of been given the opportunity to maybe have something cooked even just boiled eggs.

All in all a great stay, and I would certainly recommend

Had a chance to stay at Bendamere House while in Kaikoura. What a great place. Incredbible views, while we were there they had the first snowfall of th season. In one panorama out from the balcony you could see the tourqoise of the Pacific around to the snow capped peaks.
Nice, spacious room (suite), comfortable bed.
The owners have been at this a while in that it is a very seamless operation, but without any evidence of burnout. Very nice spead of food in the AM.

My husband and I stayed at Bendamere for a night on our honeymoon. The room was nice and modern but what really grabbed us were the beautiful views over the garden to the sea. Julie was very friendly and helpful and gave us some good recommendations for our time in Kaikoura. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. A lovely place to stay.

I spent two nights in Bendamere Kaikoura and I absolutely loved it! I will definitely go back again and recommend it to friends. The view was fabulous. photos could not say how beautiful it is. It was very quiet for those who want a relaxing stay. It was also very close to shops and restaurants. The rooms were very clean and very well taken care of by the hard working and helpful host, Julie. The breakfast included toast, butter, several jams, fruit salad, cereals and a choice of tea or coffee plus tasty muffins! On our last day, we had to leave early in the morning and Julie offered to prepare breakfast earlier than usual 7:30 am for us to have breakfast before we leave. Thanks to the hosts, we really enjoyed our stay there!

Let's start by saying that I will stay at Bendamere B&B again should i return to Kaikoura. The hosts (Kerry & Julie) are friendly & very natural who made our 2 night stay very enjoyable. The location is great., the views from our room and the lawn are superb. The rooms are more then adequate but lack WOW factor. The breakfast was also a good way to start the day but cannot be described as gourmet. Cooked meals were not provided but all ingredients were fresh and tasty. A lovely place that is close to good restaurants, iSite and all the amenities. Well recommended.
