“Lovely and Classy B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

What a great spot with superb views over the bay at Kaikoura. It is well place for walks round the headland yet only a few minutes from the town's amenities. The accommodation is first class with lots of little extras sometimes missing from other establishments. Lynne and John are perfect hosts and we will always remember their kind hospitallity.

Room Tip: Try the first floor fronts with balcony.

Lynne and John are the consummate hosts who made us feel welcomed and offered much advice and information regarding activities in the area.
Fantastic room! Clean, modern and comfortable. The view of the Kaikoura seaward range from the 2nd storey balcony is magnificent as is the location of the B&B on the peninsula.
Ensuring we got a hearty breakfast before venturing out to tramp the walks in the area, their recommendations on where to eat and things to do came in very helpful indeed.
Value for money! Great hosts!

Room Tip: If you are visiting during the off season, ask for the 2nd story rooms unless you have very young ch...

We loved our all too short time at Austin Heights in Kaikoura. Lynne & John are the perfect hosts and so typical of all New Zealanders - warm, friendly, hospitable and helpful to a fault. We had a lovely chat with them. The setting is lovely with views of the sea and the mountains beyond. The room was very warm and comfortable and had all the modern amenities that we expected including free wi-fi. Breakfast set us up perfectly for the day. Whale watching is a must do and there is a lovely walk to some spectacular rock and cliff formations with the added bonus of seals. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this great area. We will return!

Can't recommend higher, all aspects. Our only regret was that we did not organise our NZ trip to stay several days instead of just passing through. Stunning views of ocean and mountains, nice walk to coast across sheep fields, plenty to do locally - we missed the fishing and whale watching pretty stupid really. We would certainly make a point of staying again when we revisit South Island. John and Anne, Milton Keynes, UK (mid 60s)

We stayed here for one night on our way to North New Zealand. What a gem! Greatly exceeded our expectations and Lynne and John were incredible hosts. The room was beautiful, very clean and the view over the rose garden was delightful. Lynne went to great lengths over breakfast showing how she and John restored the house over a number of years. They both care greatly about their home and business. A delightful stay and I would recommend it very highly.

We stayed at Austin heights in January and Lynne and John were great hosts. Their house and garden are beautiful and it is a very relaxing place to stay. Lovely comfortable bedroom, great views and excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay there again
