“Wow! Terrific crawfish in a spectacular setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

My wife and I stopped and picked out a large crayfish that was caught that morning. We asked that it be split, steam, and served with lemon and garlic butter. We ate on a picnic table looking out to sea. Simply wonderful, and cheaper than in Kaikoura.

“Overpriced and Frozen”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012

I love crayfish but this crayfish had been frozen and was quite small for the price, nice spot though.

“Best View in the World to Eat Lobster”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

The view here is outstanding and the lobster tasted all the better with the sea spray pounding in only a few metres away.

“Enjoyable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

Even if it is not a proper sit-down-and-eat facility I would still recomend it. Nin can only serve lobsters for two families inside the trailer so you may have to take away. Lobsters were delicious. A true kiwi experience.

“Fresh cray but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

We drove from Picton to Christchurch and planned to stop for crayfish at NIn's BIn, it was very nice but for the 4 of us, two adults and two kids it was $185 which I didn't find particularly cheap. Apparently the cost is in line with international prices achieved for crayfish. In fact a small crayfish was going for about $45-50! It was very nice but quite a hefty price.

I did notice one other place north of NIn's Bin, called Waipapa Bay crayfish, on the other side of the road, I guess their price would have been similar, not sure. Then another caravan on the other side nearer to Kaikoura, also selling crayfish. I think it would be an interesting exercise to shop around. When you get into Kaikoura there seemed to be several restaurants and a fish shop offering crayfish. As to where the cheapest and freshest would be I wouldn't know. If going to do this again I would ring through to one of the local motels and ask the owner which crayfish place he recommended.

My husband enjoyed it, but to be honest I found it a bit steep in price for the experience.
