Visited on a beautiful late autumn day in May. Fantastic staff and very friendly. The location is just about unbeatable in Kaikora as this historic old building is out on a headland of sorts with views back towards the Esplanade. It is a short walk to the seal colony and the excellent cliff top walk around to South Bay. Also a short walk to the historic beach bbq van which is amazing.
The menu is quite good for a pub and prices as would be expected. You can dine outside weather permitting and on this glorious day we enjoyed some quiet drinks soaking up the views of town through the omnipresent sea mist - bliss.
We only visited the pub and hence I cannot comment on the accom situation.
As a tip for history buffs - read the history of this hotel in the nearby Fyffe (historic) house - reviewed seperately. It has a really interesting story of how this lovely old building came to be in its present location after being moved on logs from nearby - amazing.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT - definitely worth a visit for drinks and the history alone.
