My husband and I spend 24 days driving through NZ. We saw and did a lot of things, but Kaikoura really got into my heart and this B&B is definitely my favorite!
It’s up on a hill of the peninsula and has the most stunning views of the mountains and the sea. The owners Janice and Grant did a great job in designing their house and as Grant said to us, a house there should have balconies to enjoy as much as possible the beautiful views of Kaikoura. Truly, I couldn’t agree with him more! This B&B has lots of balconies, which others B&B close by don’t.

We stayed 2 nights in the end of February at the apartment [Te Moana Suite? The one above the garage], which was fabulous! The room and the bathroom are very tasteful with nice finishing touches and there is a very big and comfortable bed. To be very honest I loved the apartment so much that I wish I could have the same at my house, especially the large shower and the big tub!

The veranda had a table with 2 chairs and you could spend hours enjoying the view, especially during sunset and sunrise. In the morning we had to leave, Grant brought our breakfast to enjoy on the veranda. Fresh fruit salad, fresh bread, croissants, yoghurt, muffins, cereals.. all very tasteful! I’ll never forget that breakfast enjoying the beautiful view! It’s just a memory to remember for the rest of my life!

The hosts, Janice and Grant, are very friendly! Grant gives excellent recommendations about restaurants [42 street, white morph and Green Dolphin] and activities. Grant makes sure that you can relax and feel welcome without invading your privacy. At the end of our stay, my husband and I were very grateful for the hospitality and the great time we had. We said goodbye with a big hug and not really wanting to leave this place or Kaikoura.

In short:
The positive points are:
•Fabulous room with balcony and big bathroom
•Delicious breakfast
•Very nice hosts!
•Fantastic views [see the pictures!]
•Very private [self accommodate apartment – own entrance]
•Romantic and comfortable in every way [there were even candles in the bathroom]
•Kaikoura has lots of tourists, but is small and with lots to do!

Less positive:
•Some people prefer to stay close to the centre. This is up in the hill, so you need to take the car to go to the restaurants, but it’s about a 5 min. drives. This was no problem for us as I chose this place especially because of the fantastic view!

Tip: We tried to do the swimming with dolphins, but that was already full for a week! [so book in advance!], instead we only watched the dolphins [which is on the same boat as swimming with dolphins] and we had a great time as well!
