“A little jewel near Kaikoura”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

The Fairways turned out to be very comfortable, away from town, with a charming host, to boot. We stayed only one night, having come to Kaikoura to see the town where a granddaughter spent a college term, and feel fortunate to have found such a nice accommodation. We needed only a small place for one night, but the unit was roomy, with coffee, refrigerator, appliances, a shower, TV, comfortable bed, and easily accessible. The host was very accommodating and seemed delighted to show us the adjacent unit, not booked, which was much larger, with large eating area, full kitchen, couches, etc., and with a washer and dryer which he offered to let us use at no additional charge! It is easy to recommend The Fairways and we would be delighted to return.

We stayed two nights in this self contained 1 bedroom apartment with fully equipped kitchen. 5mins drive to the town center, restaurants, supermarket and excursion centers. Very comfortable and modern furnished. Would love to stay longer there!!!

Fresh, clean and comfortable establishment immediately south of town in a new residential development. You won't be walking into town from here, unless it's a good walk you're after, but it's just a 2-3min drive, and if you want a quiet and comfortable place to stay, this fits the bill nicely. The studio rooms are compact, but have everything you would expect. The larger appartments are very well equipped and could easily be lived it for an extended period. Friendly and very pleasant owners. Recommended.

We stayed here in order to take advantage of the whale watching tour in Kaikoura. The location is OK (south of Kaikoura by a few Kms). The room we had was a bit small. Breakfast was delivered to the room - but the room had no real dining facility: we had to squeeze up to the writing desk. The staff were very pleasant, and fortunately we were only staying the two nights - the samll size would have turned into a nightmare if we'd been there any longer.

The 2-bedroom unit which we stayed in for 2 nights was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. The managers were extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside is the distance from Kaikoura itself. We found it to be very quiet at night and I particularly enjoyed the night sky- when the street lights were turned off (not sure why this occurred though), you could see millions of stars and the Milky Way- beautiful.

It was our 3rd time at The Fairways –as before a great, modern 1-bedroom apartment. The apartment and everything was very clean within our 2 nights stay.

Upon arrival, we were put into a 1-bedroom apartment with very noisy neighbors with children and adults running and screaming through the adjacent apartment. We immediately asked for a change, no problem, but be aware that walls are paper-thin, so check who is next to you and be ready to ask for a change if you care for things like that.

The rest was fine -5 minutes by car to Kaikoura town center, beach etc., quiet at night, and surrounded by lawns and nature.

We would come back again.

Very modern new complex a short drive from kaikoura. We liked that we were slightly out of town as very quiet. Room clean, good service and free wifi.
The downside to us was the design of the studios. These are actually the 2nd bedroom of the bigger apartments but meant we felt like an after thought as It was dark and not very private and overall put a downer on our stay.
