Lake Kaniere is a very nice place to visit . A nice thing to do is walk around the lake , and later take a sail on the lake, with a company called Sail West. If you stay in Hokitika one should stop by at the Just Jade Experience & Backpackers at this place you can design and help create your own special jade carving . It took us a full day, and alot of polishing, but..we now have our very own special jade piece.
