“A country gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2011

If you're looking for something away from the tourist sites this is a relaxing alternative. Amazing food, welcoming hosts, and well-appointed facilities. Fantastic claw-foot bath to soak in. Close to beautiful beaches, orchards and ten to fifteen minutes to Whangarei. Definite "find" for anyone making a leisurely trip north.

Room Tip: Gold room if you like a bath but is smaller than other rooms.

I stayed at Lupton Lodge in November 2011 whilst on business and can definitely recommend it. Andy is incredibly accommodating and makes your stay a very personal one, the food is awesome and the rooms luxurious. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Red Room was top class!

We spent one night at Lupton Lodge and enjoyed it very much. It is an old home that has been renovated. The room we stayed in was very spacious and had a bedroom, sitting room and ensuite. Breakfast was fantastic and we ate overlooking the swimming pool. The owners were very nice and were careful to let their guests have personal space. They live in another building on site. We enjoyed driving around this accommodation and their is an very nice waterfall and walk just before you get to the Lodge. We would definitely recommend this B and B to anyone wanting to relax and explore the surrounding area.

What a great introduction to NZ! We were made to feel especially welcome and having flown half way round the world, we entered a relaxed, luxurious, easy going holiday with a gourmet twist. What fantastic food! Can't say enough about how good the food was - still thinking about it now, a year later!
Rooms beautiful - what the New Zealanders call a heritage building. V comfy bed!
Also extremely helpful host who pointed us in the right direction for things to do after our stay.
Not much going on around the lodge in walking distance, unless you want to pick fruit, but the pool and games room were the relaxed introduction we needed to get our holiday off to an amazing start.
The a la carte breakfast is a must!

Room Tip: We stayed in the gold room, which was very comfy, the en suite was as big as the bedroom!
