“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

I stayed for two nights at the Burgundy Rose Motel and was very happy with my stay. The location was good - near a supermarket and pharmacy, both of which came in handy for a self-sufficient stay. The kitchenette had both a mini-fridge and microwave, both of which were clean. The rest of the room was clean as well.

I got there late my first night, but I called ahead and the owners very kindly stayed up till I got there at around 11 PM.

My husband was having a small operation at Whangarei Hospital and we needed to stay in Whangarei for 2 nights. I initially picked this motel because they were able to accommodate our small dog and then because of price. We were so happy to arrive to find such a clean, large and lovely room. The managers were extremely friendly and helpful and we would recommend this motel to anyone. We will for sure be staying here again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

We stayed one night at the Burgundy Rose motel early Jan 2014. The lady at check-in was friendly and very welcoming.

The motel outside area's are neat and clean. Considering the time of the year the value seemed pretty good.

We had a ground floor one bedroom apartment. The room was fairly spacious and had two single beds in the lounge are and a queen on the main bedroom plus a decent kitchen area.

The kitchen and bathroom were pretty clean but the bedspreads seemed to be a bit musty / dusty, perhaps the room had been closed up for a while.

Our overall experience of the the hotel was tainted by excessive noise coming from the upstairs apartments for almost the entire night. Being wooden and double storey opening and closing of cupboards and doors reverberated loudly throughout our room, making for a very poor nights sleep. I appreciate that this was caused more by occupant behaviour than anything hotel specific but it was the reality of our stay and it made for an unpleasant nights 'sleep'. In addition road noise was fairly pronounced and closing of the single glazed windows had little impact.

Room Tip: I suspect the upstairs rooms and away from the road would be a better bet.

The motel was extremely clean and well maintained. The host was so nice that I simply have to write this review to promote this motel. Thank you so much for the awesome 2 nights stay.

My friends and I totally love the interior design of the rooms and the colour combination. The only problem was the shower as it was a little to low for my tall friends. Still decent though!

Awesome and friendly staff.. Very clean which is a must for me and catered to our needs, my children loved it and even asked if we could live there :) and I loved that they had an extra cot for my baby so he didn't have to sleep with me..
Warm and accommodating, close to supermarkets and shop right across the road.. We didn't have time to enjoy the spa pool but it looked very inviting and would have been lovely to enjoy..
We are definitely thinking of going back for a family holiday and stay longer as it was very affordable.. Would also recommend to family and friends :)
Thank you Burgundy Rose Motel xx

Room Tip: Upstairs suites are nice and quiet

I stay in motels all over nz due to work and this is an awesome place to stay, staff make you feel at home, has sky, big screen tv's, beds are very comfortable, full kitchen, rooms are tidy and it's two min from the city.
