“A very likable little eatery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions. The food and service has always been very good. The prices are moderate and you can have a very filling, tasty meal for under NZ$20.00. The staff are always friendly and, I feel, genuinely care that you enjoy their food. The style is middle eastern (Israeli) the ambience is casual. We like to go there after a movie in town.

“Not as good as i was expecting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

From reading all the reviews on trip advisor i was expecting something special from the Fat Camel.
Food arrived fast but was just average. Nothing to rave about. Service was good, the place was full at 5pm on a Thursday. Not sure if i would go back. Certainly not for a special trip.

“Favourite restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

I live in Whangarei and this is my favourite place to eat out, truly fantastic flavours, great atmosphere, lovely staff and the falafel is the best I've had. The pita pockets are perfect for lunch.

“Friendly atmosphere, lots of character!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

They say it's the people who make a place, and this certainly rings true for The Fat Camel. I've enjoyed many delicious meals here chatting with the two owners, Yann and Idan, who both have really interesting stories to tell. The food is very affordable, especially for the quantity, quality, and presentation! Location on the cutest little brick-lined lane in Whangarei is also a bonus.

This place is one of my top picks for eating out in Whangarei - do check it out!
