Our 8 Year old Son and I were fortunate enough to be able to go Wanganui with my husband who was working there for a few days last week ! We stayed at the Riverview Motel, for 6 nights, and it was a really nice Motel.
There are older Units there, we were put into one one of the new units! We were really impressed . Our Unit had a bedroom which had a Queen sized bed and a Single Bed in it, and there was a TV in the bedroom as well .
Our Son slept in the main living room which had a single bed as well as a 2 seater couch and an armchair, and it had a nice modern glass table and chairs, as well as a matching coffee table and a desk .
The main living room also had a kitchen which had 2 hobs and a microwave, sink and fridge as well as plates, cups, pots etc , and the TV in the main living room was a wide screen TV !
The bathroom had a spa bath and a seperate shower which had a glass door ( it was new and modern ), and a toilet and vanity. We had enough towels and face cloths supplied .
The Unit was modern, and was clean . Although in the 6 nights we were there, the carpet was not vacummed in the whole time we were there, and was in need of it . I could have asked for it to be done, but I don`t feel I should have had too. But each day the bathroom was cleaned, which is more important.
The Motel also has immaculate and very well looked after grounds, the gardens were nicely done and the grass was nice and short.
There is also a Guest Laundry which had 1 washing machine and 1 drier in it, and you paid $2.00 each for use of the drier or washing machine, which is really reasonable . They had a HUGE clothesline which I used most of the time as we were there in Summer and the washing was dry in no time.
The owners at the Motel were very friendly and answered our questions, and were very good with our son ! When we arrived they had Complimentry lollies at reception, and they saw our Son was very impressed with them, and they told him he could have the rest of them ! If I sent our Son on an errand to the office (which I did a couple of times), they were very good to him !
The Motel is opposite the Wanganui River, it is called "Riverview Motel", but from our Unit we did`nt have a view, but this was not a problem .
I was most impressed with how close to Town the Motel was, we just walked for about 5 mins and were in town which is where the museum was as well as shopping ! It was really good !
The Motel is also opposite a really good park called "Kowhai Park", which has the most awesome things for Children to play on, all of the things to play on are based on nursery rhymes, eg. Fred Flinstone is there, and Dino is a slide, and "Old Mother Hubbards Shoe" is a slide and there are swings which are done around a snake I think it was etc. The Motel is opposite that wonderful park, but you have to walk down the road and accross a bridge to get there , We actually drove there.
The Motel had written in their booklet about the Motel that they don`t make beds or do your dishes, which was not a problem for us, but if people really don`t want to do that, then I just wanted to mention it.
They have 7 different TV Channels there which I think is good, and one of those was the movie channel.
Parking is right outside your door, and there was also a bench seat outside our door as well for us to use. This is a nice quiet Motel. I Highly Recommend to all to stay here, especially if you end up in one of the newer units !
