“Absolutely excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Staying in a nearby motel, this place was recommended to me, and boy it did live up to it's reputation.
The two waiting staff were excellent, and showed just the right amount of care without being over the top - even offered a newspaper as on my own which was a lovely thing to do and very caring.
Food amazing (I had the twice cooked duck) which was the best meal I've had in a long time. Definitely coming back, and must bring the wife when she's here. Good value.
Lovely courtyard too, although too cold to use when I visited. A very special place.

“Very nice but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

A nice restaurant - the patio must be a lovely spot for a summer evening dinner. We enjoyed the entrees. B had the prawns and I had the risotto cake with beef skewer - both enjoyed and a good start. We both had the pan fried fish which was snapper - one of our favourites. The fish was beautifully cooked and the vegetables just right. Unfortunately, the pungent harissa completely overpowered the snapper and we both regretted not asking for "without sauce" . A disappointment.

Love the Elm, Eggs Bene is so good. never a problem changing to suit us e.g. bacon instead of Ham and mushrooms on the side. Service is great. some may say a little pricey, But you get what you pay for. Delicious

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Unfortunately I couldn't read the men because we were in a dark corner (the lights weren't working) and the font on the menu is tiny. So I had to rely on memory as a friend read out the menu. The special was fish so I ordered that and was presented with fish and chips and a salad. I felt ripped off paying $35 for fish and chips and a glass of wine.

“Delicious menu catering for all budgets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

The service and food could not be faulted at the Elm, however the mains were highly priced for a cafe at around $33.00-35.00. I had the beef skewer entree with vegetables of the day and found this to be delicious and ample as a main and well priced. The Elm's street appeal is what attracted me to dine in this cafe with its enchanting outdoor dining area with an almost Greek feel to it. However when you go through the door, the decor is drab and what you would expect in a cafe with basic table seating and a high noise level. Apart from that a delightful evening meal was had.
