We stayed one night at the Braemar Motor Lodge in May 2010 and when we arrived this time (Friday 06 September) it had changed hands but Vickie welcomed us back like old friends. She acknowledged our previous stay by upgrading us to a room with a spa bath (this was something we weren't expecting and is obviously subject to a higher room type being available).

This time we were staying two nights. The rooms were still modern, clean, spacious and welcoming - the flowers throughout the room were a nice finishing touch. The cheese and crackers, and real milk for tea and coffee were nice too.

The room had a kitchenette and we were impressed by the fact there was a kitchen hand towel and a tea towel - most places don't supply both. There are good sized mugs for a decent sized cup of tea.

In the bathroom there was a hand towel - we have found that most places, including hotels are doing away with hand towels and you only get a facecloth, bath towels and bath mat.

The Braemar is an easy walk (about 20 minutes) into the city centre and there are eating places nearby should you not want to drive or walk into the city.

We had a lovely weekend stay in Palmerston North and will definitely come back for another stay - this time we won't leave it so long.

Vickie is an amazing host and truly knows how to provide excellent, outstanding customer service.

Dear Lara and Stuart,

Thank you for your kind words in our guest survey form and Tripadvisor. It is very rewarding as a host to know you had a good stay with us. My husband and I didn't have any experience in motel management before we took over Braemar Motor Lodge, but we do have a philosophy of running this business: we treat every guests as friends coming to stay in our home. This is not only our business, this is our passion. And it is particularly satisfied to know our guests appreciate our services and facilities. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Warm regards,
Vickie & San

We stayed at Braemar Motor Lodge for 1 night on our way to Sth Island. The room was A1, clean comfortable and with all the things that we needed like good working digital TV and the host was very friendly and helpfull, even escourting us to our room with good parking out front. The only thing I can say on the negative side is its location is a distance from the city centre. But we will be staying there again when we visit next time.

Never been in Palmerston North, we had no idea where to stay. We drove past Braemar and thought it looked nice so walked in. We were greeted by Vicki who was very friendly and went out of her way to show us around the facilities. The decision to stay was easy to make. We are glad we did. The room, with a queen bed and a single bed for our son, was very clean, roomy and had all the facilities (minibar, safe, flat screen tv, plunger coffee!) and even a spa bath!

They offer cooked breakfast as well (room service), though we did not take that option.

The complex is very tidy indeed.

Highly recommend! If I have to come back for business, I know where to stay.

We arrived late in from the airport, Vicki and San waited up for us to let us in. The rooms were very clean, tidy and quiet. The Motor Lodge was close to the airport and town center, easy to find and easy to access. The team at Braemar Motor Lodge could not have been more accommodating, providing local information and arranging/providing transport for us around Palmerston North. Couldn't fault the services or facilities and would strongly recommend the lodge to anyone. Thanks team.

Our family of four stayed one night at Braemar while touring the lower North Island. From check in to check out I couldn't fault the place. Great customer service and the units were spotless. We had two adjoining units (1 bdrm and studio) as the 2 bdrm unit was booked. We will definitely stay again when visiting Palmerston North.

My husband and I visit Palmerston North on a regular basis, and we are very glad we discovered the Braemar Motor Lodge early in the piece. We always receive a warm welcome, and a genuine feeling that they are happy to see us again. The rooms are spotless, modern, very comfortable and quiet. I would highly recommend the Braemar for your stay in Palmerston North.
