I originally booked a 2 bedroom apartment and a studio room for a travelling party of 5 at short notice (4 hours) due to a change in plans. From the start of the phone call to the completion of the stay Shelley, the manager was excellent. She did all she could to accommodate us by taking into consideration our toddler (safety) as well as my mother who has serious physical disabilities; by making sure both rooms were appropriate in comfort and needs. As we were in Palmerston North for family issues, she empathised with our situation and offered a small but appreciated discount off their rates to help us out. Throughout our stay she was friendly, courteous and professional and I cannot speak highly enough of her and her team members level of service.
In terms of the room (2 bedroom apartment), it epitomises value for money and for the money - class. Beautiful full bathroom, kitchen with all the mod cons including dishwasher and table settings for 6 (or is it 8?) and a large lounge suite. The main bedroom was spacious, with ample wardrobe space (to store your EziBuy purchases in!) a comfortable queen bed and power points positioned wonderfully for charging the iPad next to it to take advantage of the unlimited free, super-fast wifi, which lets face it, is a HUGE bonus when it comes to accommodation in NZ and something which we appreciate coming from a rural town.
My folks who had the ground floor studio room testified to a comfortable, warm, quiet sleep and the room having everything they needed for the evening for less than $99 for the night.
We all ordered the kiwi-lite breakfast the next morning which consisted of generous helpings of spaghetti, toast, jams etc, OJ, scrambled eggs and hash browns for only $13 - compared with the $24 dollars we are regularly charged for continental breakfasts in WLG or AKL for work, value once again.
We have since stayed at Kiwi Studios three times as we have decided to make it our accommodation of choice when staying in Palmerston North, a regular event as my husband is mainly based there for work.
KS's is well placed for shopping, cinemas and fast food (and real food) with delicious roasts (Sunday Roasts) Thai (Phnom Penh) pasta and kebabs (Cafe Emimen) literally 26 steps from the motel. If you're got the kids - simply add another 54 steps to Burger King to keep them satisfied.
KS doesn't look like much from the outside, the parking can be quite tight on busy weekend nights and the central location could put some with a delicate ear off - but don't let this deter you - it is awesome.
