“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

I was really impressed with Harringtons - we stayed here in Feb 2012 for business. Brownyn and Keith are really lovely hosts, and were extremely helpful in assisting with our group booking. The rooms are spacious, very clean, modern, and quiet. The location is also good - close to Massey University (and town) and easy to find. Would definitely stay here again - very highly recommended.

A motel complex atmosphere is created by the guests. Your group were FANTASTIC and contributed enormously towards making our home here at Harringtons so enjoyable. Really appreciate your comments, Keith and Brony.

Unfortunately we were given room one, which whilst large, was next to the highway. Even with all the windows shut it was extremely noisy. In the middle of the night it died down but started up in the early morning hours. It was not at all a good restful night.

I found several things disappointing:
Only one pillow each and uncomfortable flat ones at that.
No fry pan and insufficient range of cooking utensils.
Dated decor and a seriously small old CRT TV (I haven't come across such a small one in a long time)!
No Airconditioning so at least whilst awake, we had to leave the windows open and endure the very loud traffic noise. Upon going to sleep I noticed there were no window security screens so overnight I wasn't comfortable leaving windows open on such a main road. Without aircon it was uncomfortable! And still noisy!
The bathrooms whilst clean had a body odour smell. It wasn't noticeable when we arrived but the doors and windows had all been left open to air the room. After a night closed however the room did smell enough to be a nose turner.

I was pleased to see the manager was so friendly but given our room, I'm sorry but I can't say I was pleased with the room or the location, especially given the premium price we paid.

The cafe 100 m down the road was excellent though.

We are really sorry that your stay was not 100% satisfactory. Currently we have additional traffic whilst the Manawatu Gorge is closed. Two additional pillows are in unit drawers and an Electric frying pan is in the bottom kitchen cupboard. Dissapointing that you never enquired at Reception about these. We take pride in our standard of cleanliness and sincerley apologise for any smell in the unit. New 32" LCD TV's are currently being installed in our 3 Family units to complete our upgrade of LCD TV's throughout the complex. . Pleased that you enjoyed our recommendation of the Elm Cafe.

It's often hard to find a home away from home, yet this is exactly what we found here. Good sized rooms, quiet as you can't hear the happenings in adjoining rooms, complete sets of crockery and cutlery, not exactly something you can count on these days. I guess for me, seeing the place clean and with up to date fixtures, this shows the passion that the owners have for their business. Friendly yet non-intrusive hosts. My next stay in Palmerston North will be here, won't even bother looking elsewhere.

We stayed in a shocking hotel the night before in another town and were extremely impressed when we arrived at Harringtons! Little touches like name tags on staff, plunger coffee, super friendly service and a well put together info pack, all made a difference. The location was easy to get to, but a bit more restful than being right in the heart of the city, especially on a Saturday night. The room itself was impeccable - not a bump or scratch in sight and super clean! Very comfortable beds and extremely good value for money as well. We were planning to go out for dinner but decided to stay in, in the end, as we were so comfortable in our room. We have already recommended Harringtons to friends and family and will definitely stay there on our next visit to Palmy.

Harringtons was a great place to stay. The room was spotlessly clean and the furniture seemed nice and up-to-date (not worn/tired) - the bed/pillows were also very comfortable.

I also really liked the man running the place; he seemed very warm and friendly. I will say that after reading some of the comments, I would agree that you can here a bit of traffic noise, but really the street isn't very busy and I didn't have the slightest problem getting to sleep (nor did it wake me up).

The location was good too - right next to the gardens and also the river trail. Very nice for a walk/run.

I would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

I slept like a baby! If only for this motel, I would have stayed longer in PN. And being less than a hundred meters away from a really good restaurant (Elm Cafe) was an added bonus. Hosts were very kind! I felt very at home and comfortable here, and the room I stayed in was immaculate. It seems like a new motel-- or they just maintain it really well. I appreciated the big lamp with the sofa under it.
