Arriving in Margaret River in the late afternoon, we strolled the town, and were attracted by the pleasant appearance of La Scarpetta Trattoria. On enquiry, we were told that the restaurant was booked out, but that a table would be available after 9.30pm. Naturally enough, we were now determined to eat at such a desirable establishment, and duly returned at the appointed hour.
My partner commenced with a glass of Aperol, while I, more conservatively, chose a white wine. Both were welcome after our journey, and the long wait, and reasonably priced by restaurant standards. The appetisers were delicious, my companion’s asparagus particularly praised. Her fish was also pronounced excellent – I made a more adventurous choice of a ‘blue cheese’ risotto, which although well prepared, was to my taste, too strongly flavoured for a main meal.
The restaurant interior was quietly rustic, and the noise level, low, although the majority of the patrons had departed by the time we commenced eating. The service was courteous and attentive. In all, a most enjoyable evening.
