“Note to self – read your own reviews before booking to return somwhere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Have just arrived here for a three day stay and the moment we walked through the door we both said ‘why are we only staying three days’? I looked at my review from earlier this year and what did I say – we would come back (check) and stay for a week (aargh).
Regretfully (well hopefully not!) our next accommodation is booked and paid for so we are going to have to make the most of this short visit.
Nothing has changed from the last review. We are staying in the opposite apartment – Cygnus – and it is exactly the same as Aquila – rental perfection. We have bought a house that we intend to rent and this is our yardstick of what we would like to offer guests – to the point that we’ve taken photographs of the cutlery drawers and inside kitchen cupboards.
Not just luxurious (it is raining today and we have the gas fire glowing and are happily snuggled) but the little touches – red roses in the lounge and bathroom, complimentary welcome food including smoked salmon, fresh coffee and amazing local bread. Everything has been thought of. Simply the best rental we have stayed in anywhere.
Next time we come we will stay for two weeks!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2012

I’ve often stayed in accommodation and thought I could do this better. This is one of the very few times – outside a five star hotel – that I’ve thought – WOW – this is better than I could do. The owners / managers have thought of simply everything – and I mean everything – you could possibly need for not only a comfortable but a luxurious stay. No expense spared – lovely glasses and china, super quality cutlery, great TV, WIFI, lovely bathroom products, fluffy towels, a welcome hamper of food including smoked salmon, chives, eggs, freshly ground coffee ++ The whole reflects an attention to detail rarely found in our experience.
On arrival we had a wee moment of worry as the car park and entranceway are not the most glamorous and give no clue as to what you will find inside Once the door swung open however relief flooded us – not only are the pictures on the website accurate but the apartment actually looks bigger and better in real life. There are only two. We stayed in Aquila but I understand they are more or less identical having an enormous lounge with kitchen off, large terrace with seating, dining and BBQ, one bedroom, nice bathroom (separate bath and shower), sunroom lounge off bedroom and a utility cloakroom. Just perfect for a couple.
The situation is incredibly convenient for the main street in town. There are several bars and restaurants within easy walking distance – none of which I would rave about but you certainly won’t starve. The best in our experience was Must (generous voucher for dinner included in our rental package) but I would still say it was good bistro food rather than fine dining. We also ate at the Arc of Isis which was tasty and fun (and very close) but also cost effective as it is BYO. When (not if!) we stay again we will make more use of the brilliantly stocked kitchen and the handy proximity of a large Coles supermarket. We stayed for three nights and it flew by. We would easily stay here for a week on our next visit – probably longer.
Ben, the manager, arranged a tour for us with Dennis of The Road Less Travelled (reviewed separately) which was a highlight of our visit to Margaret River.
Expensive? Yes but you really get what you pay for. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Downside? View from the terrace ain’t great – but location more than made up for this IMHO.
Complaints? The toaster is a bit noisy ;-)
