great location with a modern feel. Great beer and even better wine. Amazing people so definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Also a nice kids playground that can keep them playing for hours.

“Beautiful setting Good Beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

They make German / Czech style beers, which is ok, but a Pilsner and a Hefe are pretty boring styles.

However their Dunkel was good and the Alt Bier was special. The had a Pale Ale that was 6.5 % but if you make German Beer why cross the line and make an English Ale.

Nice Staff and Good Beer on a beautiful ground

Sam O, General Manager at Duckstein Brewery, responded to this review, April 21, 2013
Thank you for your review.

We love having people that know beer visit our brewery as we are quite proud of our products.

As you are obviously an enthusiast we thought we would provide you with a little more information on our beers. Our German style Pilsner is the only beer that we currently sell as a bottled product, it is true to the traditional German style due to its straw like colouration as opposed to the Czech style Pilsner which would exhibit a rosy hue due to the slightly less Pale malt used. Our Pale is strictly an American adaptation and unlike your traditional English Pale ales we only use new world hops which we add though out the brewing process - right up until filtering.

As for why we cross the line? We enjoy our beer without borders.

We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Cheers!

“Not happy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

My rating is average - going on previous visits. This time we visited the Duckstein Brewery on the Saracen Estate after just visiting two other breweries in the region i.e. The Bootleg which as usual was relaxing and enjoyable with great atmosphere and service. Then we went to the Cheeky Monkey which was absolutely fantastic in every way, then to finish off our brewery visits we called into The Duckstein to have a quiet beer on the verandah and what a disappointment. We couldn't buy a beer at the bar counter even though we were the only customers standing there and was told it was table service only. We sat down and waited and did not get acknowledged in the slightest by two male waiters who were close by. I think we were invisible. The place was not even busy. We walked out.

Thank you - we really appreciate your feedback. As you will see from the rave reviews on Duckstein Brewery's Trip Advisor page,
this seems quite a random occurance and Duckstein's Manager has provided a response for you below.
We hope you enjoyed our Saracen Estates Cellar Door expereince if you popped over for a wine tasting with our team or to look through our gift shop.
All the best, thanks again for your feedback.

“I’m sorry you went unnoticed, I can guarantee you that was not intentional - we love showing people the time of their lives! We try our best to serve everyone at their table so they can concentrate on the hard jobs like drinking beer and relaxing. Unfortunately, it appears that your experience was a rare trade off for offering this style of service. We believe being completely looked after from your table makes for memorable experiences and it’s something special that only our brewery offers. I hope to see you out here on your next trip down so you can truly experience our hospitality.”

“Very easy to overeat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Saturday lunch relaxing over wine and Duckstein beer with our food. Even sharing two platters of wonderful German food was very filling, but very tasty. We had a beautiful setting to enjoy our leisurely lunch overlooking the water.
Not sure of the cost but according to the one paying the bill, it's very reasonable.
As a non beer drinker, I found the tasters good a small glass to see what each was like and I'm almost converted. The pilsner was particularly easy to drink.
