Two sleep-deprived parents, a 5-year-old boy, and a 16-month-old boy arrived at Gnarabar after 2pm on a cold, winter Sunday, looking for a late lunch. I was expecting to be turned away due to the combination of late arrival and off season. The friendly staff did not blink an eye, and showed us to a table. We ordered several smaller dishes to share, a couple of glasses of wine, and a kid's meal for the 5yo. (We'd checked the menu online earlier: Gnarabar has the best kid's menu we found around Margaret River.) The person who took our order (relying on memory, which always impresses me) also took in her stride some banter about the picture she had brought our 5yo to colour in, with no hint of too-cool-for-this. The order arrived quickly. My favourite was the pulled pork slider with fennel slaw and chutney. Seriously tasty winter comfort food. I suspect someone in the kitchen was enjoying themselves as much as we were. We left with takeaway coffees for the trip to the next playground ("Kate" the railway engine). A resoundingly positive experience. Friendly, relaxed yet efficient service; unexpectedly good food.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

loved dining here - the food was delicious. they also do take away so the first night we phoned in and picked it up to eat in our room. the next night (Friday) the place was hopping !!! you must book on weekends i think. they do a happy hour so i think that was why it was so busy. they have a good menu and it's a lovely atmosphere w/ an open fire.

“Nice atmosphere, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

We ate here whilst staying at Margaret's Beach Resort. It is recommended you make a booking, particularly during busy times. My travel companions had the porterhouse steak and vegetables which they thoroughly enjoyed. I had the fish and chips...the fish was a little chewy, but the chips and accompanying salad very nice. The staff are very friendly, the service was quick and the atmosphere very nice. We also ordered takeaway..the restaurant called our room to let us know when it was ready (again this was very quick). They are in the Entertainment Book so we got a good discount for our dine-in meal

“Tasty food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

The food at Gnarabar was sooo tasty. I had the porterhouse with steamed vege's and potato's. I ate everything on the plate, it was a taste sensation. The decor is very nice and the atmosphere relaxed. We also had takeaway from the Gnarabar & it was ready quickly and again was delicious. We would definitely eat there again even if not staying at the resort.

“Second time at Gnarabar... just gets better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

We went to Gnarabar after having went there after the fires a couple of years ago. Loved it back then, and loved it again tonight!

We had the:
- calamari - delicious and crunchy, Well seasoned with delicious dipping sauce.
- salmon with potato rosti, orange fennel, caramalised red onion salad, roasted zuchini and beetroot - salmon perfectly cooked with crispy skin and perfectly seasoned. Best salmon we've had for a very long time. Incredible complexity of flavours.
- Nasi Goreng with prawns - very nice dish with well cooked prawns, tangy chili sauce, fried egg and lime.
- chocolate filo pastry with vanilla bean ice cream and espresso dates - delicious. could have done with a little bit more ice cream.
- sticky date pudding with sticky date ice cream and butter scotch sauce and almond praline - amazing! Had a crappy sticky date pudding the previous night at a different restaurant, but this one more than made up for it. Could have done with a bit more icecream.

Chefs and waitstaff are friendly and accommodating. They made us feel welcomed. We were the last people there on a Sunday night and they didn't try to push us out.

Prices are good for what you get. Exceptional when used with entertainment book.
