“Great Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic 4 days at one of the chalets. If you want a relaxing, away from everything break Boranup Forrest Retreat is just fantastic. With absolute fantastic surroundings and a great wood fire what more do you need. Thanks for a great stay and would certainly recommend to my clients and friends.

Room Tip: Cannot fault the chalet at all.

I am embarrassed that up till now, I have not found time to respond to the great reviews we have had in recent months and we appreciate the time people have taken to comment and help us to continually improve. Our thanks to the guests who have taken this time. Some of the lovely comments in the chalet guest book are also a great encouragement to Mark and Margaret, who work hard to maintain standards. This year has been particularly challenging with family issues and a flood mid-year causing serious damage, uncovered by insurance but when we get such great feedback from many lovely guests, it makes it all worthwhile. As Xmas approaches, I will take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Xmas and encourage you to help the homeless and those less fortunate. Sheila

A beautiful location. Plenty of space in the rooms. Great Fire. The nearby cafe is superb. To get there continue past the front gate a few hundred metres down the track.Cafe closed Mondays. A few minor changes would really make a difference -blankets need replacing big big fluffy doonas, some local maps and ideas for places to visit. eg Contos is very close So is the Cape to Cape Walk.

Thank you for your feedback. Without it, we will not improve or achieve the high standards we aim for! I am glad you enjoyed Boranup overall. I think these nights are just extremely cold, Mark, and it is time to consider electric blankets. This was the first year we needed evaporative air conditioners! Climate change! I believe Mark, our caretaker, shared some of his amazing knowledge of the area and I know he enjoys this. It sounds as if the maps we supply free in the drawers have run out so I will make sure they are replaced.
This is a lovely area. We are certainly blessed, Mark!

I just wanted to thank the owners for a wonderful holiday! We all had an amazing time! The lodge accommodated 10 adults, 4 little kids & 2 babies and we all loved it. It was so nice to get out of the City and relax in beautiful accommodation that is set in stunning scenery. The lodge is gorgeous and homely and the spa/sauna room is awesome. We saw kangaroos and emu's and it was great to be somewhere iscolated where we could get out the guitar and have a sing along. It was definitely somewhere we would like to return too and recommend to people looking for a lovely family holiday!

My daughter found the Boranup Resort online when we were searching for accomodation for Leewin Concert starring Carol King.
Booking was easy and I spoke to carol, who was helpful in lots of ways. She texted instructions to the Resort which were easy to follow and the drive in the forest was quite spectacular. The Kookaburra Chalet was spacious, clean and felt very homely. We had bought our own food etc, and enjoyed the spa.
The caretaker kindly let us in before the check in time so we could relax before the concert and the drive home from Leewin was fantastic as all other traffic went the other way, including police road blocks!
We will definitely use another time.

Room Tip: Kookaburra was perfectly located, no other guests to be seen. Lots of birds

We firstly got a really good deal to stay at the lodge this summer. Upon arriving, we realised that the place was bigger than we had expected and was meant for way more than our family of 6. It is a great place for large families to spend time together.

Sheila came to greet us on the evening of our arrival and let us know where to get help if we needed it. Our needs and queries were responded to promptly by Shiela and Michael. We were even delivered wood for the fireplace on colder nights.

It was a very enjoyable stay. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped with sufficient cutlery and cookware for the whole house. The pool table and fooseball were a great hit with the kids. The spa and sauna were great to relax in after a day of outdoor fun.

Though the place was secluded, we were really surrounded by nature. A really cool experience for us, city people. We were even visited by a kangaroo and an ostrich during this stay.

The only setbacks were the bathing facilities provided. On a whole, we had 3 showers, one of which we had problems getting hot water from. The one in the master bedroom also did not provide a constant flow of warm water making showers unpleasant. The third shower was the only one that worked properly (electric heating) and this was found in a spacious laundry room, for use when there are problems with the gas heater.

There were two toilets to be shared between the whole house. This was alright for the 6 of us. But seeing how the lodge easily sleeps 15 people, I just wonder if two toilets will really be enough for the whole house.

We will definitely consider returning with an even larger group the next trip we make to Margaret River. Hopefully, it would be an even better experience with more toilets and better functioning showers.

Room Tip: The master bedroom will be the warmest with the fireplace downstairs on. It might however start to s...

Fantastic spot situated deep in the Forrest off Bussell Hwy in Boranup - Margaret River. Wake up to nature in your secluded getaway. This place is a favorite of mine and have stayed here 8 times over the past few years! Take my word for it and experience it for yourself.

We were in Blue Wren chalet & on arrival the wheelie bin at the front door was full of rubbish & absolutely stunk & the mop/bucket had been left with dirty water still in it. There were cob webs all over the front doors & inside. We even had to spray to kill the spiders. No matches were left for lighting the fire. No dish washing liquid. We were unable to cook on the BBQ or in the oven, they were so filthy beyond words. Shower curtain had never been washed. The shower rose leaks water, needs replacing. The kettle was disgusting, needs replacing. The top of the fridge never gets cleaned. Cleaners need to look up, the exhaust fans are disgraceful in the kitchen, bathroom & WC. Bedroom linen/doonas are old, out of date & smell. Very disappointing for the money we paid. Owners need to check more often than they do.
