“Cosy little Bed and Breakfast with a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

Cosy little bed and breakfast with a great location. Close to Margaret River Town and Prvilley Beach. Dirk and Pam were also great hosts always willing to lend a hand and give recommendations for places to go and things to see. The room was just nice for us and has all that we could need.

Thank you Wayne for your review. People think they have to be in the town but we are closer to all the attractions and as you say, also close to the town.

We stayed for 3 nights - quiet, comfortable, well appointed room, very nice guest lounge, and excellent continental breakfast with home made bread, and local preserves, as well as a nice choice of cereals and fresh fruits. A beautiful setting in the bush with nice garden and lots of birds including a red winged fairy wren.
Dirk knows the Margaret River area and its wineries very well and his recommendations are great. Don't leave for a day's touring withour getting Dirk's advice and marked-up map!

Dear Angus and Jill,

It was lovely having you here and I enjoyed our chats. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to get to most of the attractions in your short stay. There are still many more things to see and do around Margaret River but obviously in a short period you can only just scratch the surface but at least you got a good taste of what the region has to offer.

Thanks also for identifying the red winged fairy wren for us. I think they are nesting nearby so hopefully soon we may see more of them.

Regards,
Dirk and Pam

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at Loaring. Lovely room, large two person spa, very clean, good breakfast made with fresh local produce. Situated on beautiful quiet block surrounded by nature... Lovely space to sit and enjoy quiet cuppa outside before heading to beach and wineries. Owners were very accommodating and considerate- arranged an early checkin as we were heading to a wedding that afternoon. Highly recommended!

Dear Alinta. The Margaret River Region is becoming increasingly popular for weddings and so we are often asked for an early check-in so the guests can get ready for the ceremony. We are always happy to assist in these cases. We can also help in arranging a shuttle or designated driver service. Thanks very much for your review. Regards, Dirk and Pam

We stayed here on a mini break whilst visiting the Margaret River area for 3 nights. It is a modern bed and breakfast in the middle of the Australian bush and is very secluded and serene.
The room we stayed in was clean and quite large, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom modern and the spa bath was huge. There was also a patio area off of the bedroom which was a nice place to relax with a bushland view. I was disappointed that the room was not sound proof as advertised. Although it was quiet when guests were out, we could hear guests clearly in the other rooms throughout the night.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty with a selection of homemade breads, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and beverages on offer.
The host Dirk, was a wealth of knowledge regarding the Margaret River region and was extremely helpful when we were planning what to do in the area. Bella the household Labradoodle was entertaining.
We enjoyed our stay and rainbow couples are welcome :)

Hi Minergal, Thanks for your review. Generally the sound proofing is adequate but unfortunately some guests make a bit more noise than others which will just penetrate the double brick with a sound check layer or the theatre grade gyprock and heavy insulation in the ceiling or the heavy door. One day electronic noise cancellation will become cheap enough for us to install, but in the meantime most guests find it quiet enough, or they don't notice it. We have had guests who can't sleep without the airconditioner on because they are used to the quiet hum they give off. Others get frightened by the sound of crickets or possums in the night air. Best regards, Dirk and Pam

We had a very good "mid-week" trip to Margaret River - excellent place to stay - central to all of the beaches, towns and attractions - of course this is with a car.
The bedroom was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom (with jacuzzi) and breakfasts were huge..!! Dirk and Pam gave lots of assistance with places to visit and with eating plans - dinners at restaurants and "at home". We saw (nearly) all the sights from Cape Leeuwin to Cape Naturaliste, including a "Roo" in the grounds, and whales (and a black backed snake!) at Cape Naturaliste - and wineries, cave, forrests in-between.

Room Tip: Our room and bathroom were very good - and I think the other 3 rooms are the same? We didn't ne...

Dear Vincent, It was great seeing how you tackled our itineraries we set up for you each day and we are very pleased you managed to get a great taste of what the region has to offer. But it was only just an introduction as there is lots more. Thanks for putting in the review. Regards, Pam and Dirk

We truly enjoyed our 2 night ( too short) stay here. Our room was very clean with comfortable bed/bedding. The breakfasts in the garden were delicious and Bella, the dog added to the lovely experience. Our hosts were so helpful and gave us invaluable info on the local area from restaurants to beaches to wineries and my favorite- the ice cream spots.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Walcliffe Room and it was fantastic.

Dear Julie, Thanks for your lovely review. There are two icecreameries in the region, Millers and Simmo's. One has the best ice cream in the world and the other is the world's second best. Unfortunately, deciding which one is the best requires constant re-testing and I still haven't made up my mind. Regards, Dirk.

From an abundance of accommodation in Margaret River, we chose this tucked-away B&B in the Bush, 5 or so kms from the town. We were warmly welcomed by our French hostess and her endearing labradoodle Bella; our room, comprising an adequate bedroom and large bathroom with spa tub was fine and all four guests were afforded an atrium-like lounge stocked with books, coffee and tea facilities and tv. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden (with Bella) and left rested and satisfied. Recommended.

Small details - the spa is so large that even if you only use hot water by the time it is full the water is cooling! The bedroom we used (last on left) could have a repaint.

Dear John, Thanks for your review. You noted the room you stayed in could do with a repaint. As part of our inspection by AAA Tourism we cleaned and touched up the paintwork in all the rooms. The inspector renewed our high 4.5 stars rating of which we are very proud. One of the problems of the new safety rules for bathrooms is the water temperature is regulated to be no higher than 50 degrees so people can't be scalded. However, when you run the pump in the spa-bath, it has a water heater that keeps the water temperature just perfect. Regards, Dirk and Pam
