“Precious, memorable, cosy and excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Kids didn't want to go home! We had so much fun! Hosts Lisa and farmer Vinnie went all out to make us feel comfortable. Kids especially loved the feeding time, the little baby sheep that just arrived and our backyard neighbors, the emus! Love the cosy cottage, where we had hot dinners to keep us warm at night. Would be wonderful if the cottage has its own washer and dryer instead of the common washer/dryer at the main entrance. Overall, we had an enjoyable time! Thank you Lisa and farmer Vinnie! We will be back!

We visited margaret river hideaway n farmstay on 11-15 june 2013. It was superbly excellent!! My children love it so much! They esp missed the v friendly n kind uncle vinnie and his wonderful/ beautiful daughters, intelligent n playful Dexter, the little lambs, the marshmallow experience, the animal feeding sessions, the clean, spacious n well equiped cottages, the fresh eggs and the fun wheelbarrow rides!!! Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to our trip to Perth!!! The location is v convenient too! We will highly recommend this farmstay to our friends! :)

What a fantastic place to stay in Margaret river. We stayed here on a weekend away from Perth. I booked online and was surprised to find how close this place is to the cbd while still being out of town. 5 min drive to the town centre. Vinnie and Lisa were great, we turned up at 830 on Friday night and Lisa showed us to our studio and then left us to our own devices. We loved the studio, perfect for a couple, and nice and close to the animal feeding in the morning, we didn't have to walk far. No traffic noise as was mentioned in a previous review. Lovely atmosphere, everyone was so friendly, we got a great breakfast recommendation and will definitely stay here again when we return to Margaret river. Thanks!

We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and we wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts, Vince & Lisa, are very friendly and provided lots of suggestions on the various attractions around the area. The place was away from the hustle and bustle and yet not too far from the MR town, so it was perfect for a family getaway. The children loved the feed-the-animals sessions.
The 3-bedroom cottage we stayed in was big and well-equipped. They even provide some basic breakfast items which were handy to feed us on our 1st morning there. The rooms were clean and tidy and the fireplace was well stocked with firewood.. we will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Our family spent 4 nights here in early May. Perfect place for our 2 energetic boys to run around. Getting this close to the nature, in cool climate was indeed a treat for our family.

The facilities and furnishing within the unit was complete and well thought of, to meet every of our needs. The BBQ and patio present you the opportunity to grill fresh Australian steaks and lamp chops while having a Victoria Bitter, or a quiet night outside the patio with wine and a cigar under the blanket of stars.

Our boys enjoyed the animals feeding sessions in the morning, and carefree walk around the property. Vinny and family made sure we get opportunity to interact with the animals, and kept the boys engaged throughout the feeding sessions. The highlight of the stay for our boys had to be Uncle Vinny as they fondly recall him. Vinny got the children involved in the feeding sessions and the boys cannot forget the fun they had on the wheelbarrow with him.

One of our boy had a little episode during our last night there, and Vinny made himself availble late at night to offer his help. He dropped what he was doing to come over immediately to check on our boys and recommended that we bring him to be treated at the hospital, just to be on the safe side. He went out of the way to accompany us to the nearby hospital and even seat with my boy during the journey to keep him calm and comforted. We were really thankful for the help he rendered and concern for our boy.

We have fond memories of this place and Vinny, Lisa and family made it truely special.

I stayed there with my family last week, partially because it was one place we could take our dog - and wasn't expecting an awful lot. However, the Hideaway was fantastic. New managers Vinnie and Lisa were wonderful hosts and provide a bit of humour during the stay. We didn't stay in the up market units, but they were in great condition and they did have a decent yard for a dog to run around when you don't want to take them with you during the day. My daughter loved the animal feeding, and with chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, alpacas, emus and cows ... there's plenty to do and see. The Osmington Road is just down the road from the Colonial Brewery and only 5-10 minutes from town. It's also only about 15 minutes to Caves road and all the wineries/caves etc.

Room Tip: no need ... even the basic units are great

We stayed here for 1 week and I've been raving about it to everyone since our return. It was one of the best holidays we have had in a long while and the Margaret River Hideaway had a lot to do with that. In a beautiful setting, so peaceful, our 8 and 6 year old daughters absolutely loved the freedom to roam the property - feeding the animals most mornings, collecting some freshly laid eggs, and playing in the tree house and making their own adventures around the property. Most evenings we would have a BBQ and sit out looking up at the stars enjoying the serenity of the place. The hosts, Vinnie and his family, were absolutely amazing, so welcoming, helpful and fantastic with the kids. Also, the property is perfectly positioned right in the middle of Margaret River, so close to the town and easy to get to all the beaches, wineries and breweries in the area. We can't wait to get back there!

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Like you, we find the star-lit heavens to be glorious. So many people have to live in polluted cities, where we are spoiled in having clear skies through much of the year.
