I have been to the Blue Monkey restaurant three times in the past few months, as you may have guessed by the title. I have gone back as I understand that businesses rely on their staff and being human anyone can have an off day.
That said I am appalled at the service I have received each time not to mention their coffee is overpriced even for a mining boom town.
The first instance I had only ordered some takeaway coffee and between the girl taking the order and the barista completing the order they had some miscommunication resulting in the order being incorrect, which the barista saw fit to blame on me saying that was what I ordered. I pointed out that the girl at the reception took our order and passed it to her. No apology just a blank if not malevolent stare.
Anzac Day breakfast proved to be no less a challenge with an abundance of staff and few patrons I didn't think service would take long, how wrong I was; and when I was served it was with an attitude of surly resentment at having disturbed their conversation whilst hovering around the breakfast buffet.
To add insult to injury the price was jacked up for a special event menu and further to this a public holiday surcharge of $5.00 per person was applied.
Don't take my word for it go and see for yourself, if you want poor service and a vague sense that you have just been robbed.
