“More than a lodge, less than a hotel - just nice, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2011

Not expecting something fancy, we were surprised otherwise with this charming building and facilities. The hosts were nice, helpful and smooth during check in. It is like a lodge style accommodation, nothing very fancy but provide nice clean rooms, bathrooms, and linen/towels etc.

Well located, all the sights are close by and the balcony outside is a added bonus. There is also ample parking within the compound area in the middle, and what i really liked is they provide car washing facilities (which my car badly needed after all the long sandy desert drives)...a hose connected to water, brush, pail, soap, etc etc.

Good food is just a street behind, the lighthouse close by and also the dolphin lagoon.

Although we did not use it, i think there is a small swimming pool too within the lodge. Picturesque building, good value and comfortable stay is what you will certainly get in return for your cash. Recommend it.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful.
The Lodge is different to The Clifton. The Clifton is the motel section which is behind Grittleton Lodge. The Lodge has just 4 rooms, each one different and each one decorated in olde world charm. There are two lounge rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs which are for the exclusive use for only the guests in The Lodge. They are also beautifully decorated, and have complimentary sherry and port for guests.
Our room was spotless, there were bathrobes and a spa and a new flat screen tv. There was a small fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities.
There is a small swimming pool and BBQ for the use of guests.
The location is great and only a short walk to the beach or in to the Bunbury town to the shops, cafes and restaurants.

This hotel is old. Old but clean. It is a very expensive hotel for the services it offers. If i had my choice I would stay at the Lord Forest for the same price.

I have stayed in Bunbury for business on many occasions however, this was my first time at the Clifton.

The front of the property is the old lodge, which is quite charming, and whilst the hotel/motel is a few years old it is clean and comfortable and great value for money. The room I had was spacious, clean and tidy. I had a flat screen TV and there was also a small mini bar. Breakfast is cheap and was a large serving.

The Clifton is in a great location sitting on the door step of the city centre and a stones throw to the beach.

Good price, great location and friendly staff. I will stay here again.

If you a looking to save a few pennies but still be in the heart on Bunbury then this is a great choice.

I can't believe this drab motel has received such good reviews on tripadvisor. It is conveniently located close to Bunbury's CBD but that is really the only thing this 'hotel' has going for it. When you drive in first, the lodge at the front to the property looks very nice but then to get to your room you need to drive back out onto the road and come in the rear entrance to a dreary motel. The room was really old and badly in need of a revamp and the curtains and linen must be around since at least the 70's . The bathroom was, quite frankly, dreadful and I've seen better in hostels. When we came in from dinner we found ants all over the kitchenette part of the room in search of food. It was definitely the worst motel we stayed in during our time in Oz and I really expected much better from a Best Western. Luckily we were only staying one night.

When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the Esther room in the lodge (Apparently Leo Sayer had once stayed in this room). You were able to use the lounges in the lodge, the huge balcony you can see in the photographs. The room was enormous with a large spa bath seperate bathroom etc etc.
This made our stay in Bunbury very special & as per some of my previous reviews we could of stayed here a bit longer.
Beautiful building
Good location
Great room
Nice swimming pool
Good location
Great staff

We had a standard room upstairs, with a view of the cricket pitch and a side view of the sea. It was a good sized. comfortable room with a good shower room and comfortable bed.
The hotel was motel-style. There was a guest laundry room and a small swimming pool.
There was no longer a restaurant in the hotel, except for breakfast. The DIY continental breakfast was very mediocre and the coffee like dishwater.
Room service was available from several local restaurants, but the hotel was only a few minutes walk from the town and a huge variety of places to eat.
The sea was also only a few minutes away.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
