“Excellent apartment-style accommodation”

One of the growing Quest group, this is a realy nice apartment-style accommodation. Has everything you need to be self sufficient for a short to medium stay. It's located in trendy St Kilda, outside the main urban centre of Melbourne, but within easy reach by tram. It's also very close to the superb St Kilda beach.

Shopping is easy and close by, as are lots of cafes and restaurants, so it's easy to eat out if you can't be bothered cooking. And there are plenty of meal delivery services, too.

One niggle was the bath/shower. These have a very high and slippy step-over theshold and are not for the elderly or less mobile, for whom they would be dangerous.

The hotel is located on a VERY complicated junction. It's not a noise problem - there is very little traffic noise in the building - but the hotel directions are very poor, and you could end up driving in circles. Ignore the instructions, and set your satnav for Pattison Street. This is one way and you enter it from Princes St. Stop your car at the end in one of the angled parking spaces on the right, and walk round the corner to reception, where they'll give you a zapper for the big underground car park. Don't use the intercom on the car park to gain your first entry. It's catch 22 and you can end up locked in the car park......

Oh, and for those of you who are Neighbours fans, the pub where they do the meet the cast nights is 100 yards from the hotel.

We just spent 7 days at the Quest on St Kilda Road. The other review refers to a pool, but there wasn't one at 1A St Kilda Rd, unless we totally missed it somehow.

Anyway, we stayed in a renovated executive 2 bedroom suite and it was fantastic - clean and spacious. The management was very helpful and friendly. The bathroom door squeaked a bit too much and it was taken care of immediately. We could not have asked for a better room.

Our friends were in one bedroom, which was not renovated, and they loved it.

I am not a big fan of the open atrium style of this property, but the room that we had was not facing the atrium, so it was very quiet. I don't know if rooms facing the atriume were necessarily noisy, but the room our friends were in faced the atrium and they said that they weren't disturbed.

The hotel is located near tram lines (one of the trams goes directly into the city) and just around the corner on Fitzroy Street there are great cafes and restaurants. A 10-15 minute walk down Fitzroy St takes you directly to the beach.

We would definitely stay here again!

    • Disliked — The atrium design of the property
    • Tips/Secrets: — I don't really know if this is a business person's hotel as I didn't really notice a business services room, e.g. fax machine, printers, etc. But the management is new and may be adding these features if they want to make it more oriented towards business travelers

“Great location and very reasonably priced”

Quest on St Kilda Road Melbourne

Nov 23, 2005

I have just spent 5 nights in the Quest Serviced Apartments in St Kilda. I found the staff to be very attentative, adequate facilities (small swimming pool and gym, washing machine and dryer within the apartment, tv etc) and the apartments to be very clean and spacious (including the very large double beds). The location in St Kilda is also excellent - a short stroll to Fitzroy Street and its bars, cafes and restaurants (and the beach).

I would recommend the Quest Apartments to anyone looking for cheap serviced apartments in an excellent location. There are some great hotels in the area, but, if you are looking for a cheaper option the Quest apartments are perfect.
