“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We stayed here recently and loved the location. The checkin staff were very courteous and friendly. There were 4 of us and we were happy to bunk in to one room. The room was large enough and comfortable. The beds were great. I recommend that you take ear plugs, as early in the morning the trams can wake you up, but that is city life in downtown St Kilda. Being able to park your car safely, is a bonus. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the early morning trams, if they exist!

Dear LydiaPidia,

Thank you very much for your review and for sharing your impression of our staff and location!

Our Cosmo Twin rooms are a fantastic/cost effective way to accommodate a family for four. We do indeed offer other room categories featuring different appointments across the property. Our friendly staffs are always more than happy to talk you through these options to find what best suits your needs.

We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Warmest regards

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

I arrived at the reception and was informed that I had received an upgrade from the cosmo petite to the 1 bedroom. Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised by the massive room with an additional daybed! Despite it being at the ground level which proved to be convenient for loading our bags from the car into the room, there was hardly any road noise. Curtains could be closed for complete darkness in the room. Bed was comfortable and quilt was warm enough. Secure carpark was not huge but sufficient enough where I was able to get parking for both nights I was there. Bathroom's shower was of excellent pressure and thus shower was a delight. As it could get very cold in the bathroom, it would have been great if bedroom slippers were provided.

Dear MelE06,

At the Cosmopolitan Hotel we are afforded a unique building design which allows our guests easy access to our rooms.

As you would have seen, the property stretches across three hotel wings which are made up of an eclectic mix of 8 room categories. Our Cosmo Twin/Standard One Bedrooms are generous in size featuring the day bed you are referring to. It’s wonderful to hear the upgrade was well received, something we like to do for our guests when it’s available.

Thanks for your suggestion regarding slippers, a clever idea for the winter months ahead!

We appreciate your review and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Warmest regards

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay as a girlfriend of mine was passing through. We booked a Cosmo Twin room for $130 and it could sleep up to 4 people. The beds were very comfy, the heater worked well and we had a view of carlisle street. The trams were a bit noisy but what do you expect for the location and who cares when you can walk outside and get a tram to the city direct. The bathroom was excellent, shower pressure was fantastic! Free WIFI and FREE parking with loads of car spaces! There is a café across the road and a backpackers pub, although we didn't go there and there is a maccas 2 min walk away. I am booking here again for when my other mate comes for a melb visit. I was not expecting anything as nice as what I did for the price I paid and the location.

Room Tip: Higher up would be quieter but depends on the room you book as obviously the cheaper rooms will be o...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Stayed here 4 nights in a deluxe room recently.

The room was a good size, comfortable for spending some time in. The bed was HUGE!

It was a pretty good location, although out of the city. Regular trams running to the city taking about 25-30 minutes.

Bathroom was great, big shower with great water pressure.

The room wasn't excessively noisy despite facing Carlisle street and the tram line. However a bit of noise seemed to come through/under the door, especially when room doors slammed shut and people had a conversation in the corridor. This wasn't a massive problem for myself and husband, but if you are a light sleeper it might be.

I'd consider staying here again.

Dear TheThylacine,

It’s lovely to hear you had a happy stay!

Like you many guests wrestle with the idea of staying in St Kilda versus the City. The reality is we are a mere 15 – 20 minutes to the city centre via 96 or 16 tram, 15 minutes to Chapel St South Yarra/Prahran and the best part is, we are located on the door step of the famous St Kilda Beach and the trendy Bayside hub. Best of both worlds!

Thank you for highlighting our HUGE beds in our comfortable Cosmo Deluxe rooms!

We look forward to your return.

Warmest regards

Check in was vey quick and efficient, had booked a petite room however on viewing it was so small not even space to put down my suitcase, staff were very helpful and quickly helped me upgrade to a larger room. This room was a much better size, but so noisy, looked out on busy road, tram line etc, no double glazing so even with earplugs was impossible to sleep, bar noise, trams, traffic all to be expected in the city but if I stayed again would request a room away from roadside. Only other concern was cleanliness, I don't think the floor was vacuumed at all during my seven day stay. The upside is the location, easy access to trams stops, cafes, shops etc

Room Tip: Don't get a petite room, and make sure you are away from busy road!!

Dear AngeDu,

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that we were able to find you a room more suited to your requirements so swiftly. Our Petite rooms are definitely on the smaller side and are a hot favourite for people on a budget however we completely understand this is not for everyone and always try our best to be as transparent as possible when describing this room type

I am very sorry to hear that your sleep was disrupted by the external noise. We are lucky enough to be located in the central hub of St Kilda, however as you mentioned the vibrancy outside can sometimes interrupt a light sleeper. We always try our best to find a room appointment that appeal to each individual’s needs and we would love the opportunity to be able to show you our other 7 room categories in the future.

Thank you again for staying and for your review, we look forward to welcoming you back

Warmest Regards
