I flew in Melbourne at 9 am and was at hotel by 1030 am. Room (a petite double) was not ready but told me to come back at noon. The front desk stored my luggage and I went off into St Kilda.
Came back at noon and my room was ready. I want to say I had room 201. It did not face the road and my window look out to the parking lot and, presumely, someone's home on the next street.
I booked the small roomest they have. I was not luxury or size (Novotel is up the road). I wanted comfort, cable TV and a ensuite room. I got all three. The bed was comfortable, you have a small flat screen TV mounted to the wall, some closet space (I just had one piece of luggage so I just put it in the corner), a small fridge (I would just put soda/water in it) and a small but adequate bathroom with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Towels were decent and plenty of hot water. You are given a second keycard for electricity (you insert it in some wall slot holder and it turns the power on).
It's not the Ritz and they pretend not to be. I did not have a noise problem (except for the thunderstorm one night) and did not have a problem with the size of the room. I got a $85 AUD rate for 3 nites. Another big bonus for me, a washer and dryer on site! They have a restaurant but I ate either in Melbourne or St Kilda. Tram was very convenient and I took a bus from the airport that stops directly at the hotel.
