Clean and quiet (although I had stipulated accommodation away from the street), and very convenient to Ackland St. Good staff - our first night's booking had gone astray, and once the receptionist tracked down my original email, she was most apologetic and gave us a studio free of charge for that night.

The bad thing about this room is that there are cabinets built right by the side of the bed, suspended from the ceiling. So while you're lying down, you get the feeling that if you make a bad turn or get up groggily, you might hit your head! Apart from this, the room was clean and value for money. Location was good as well.

About security: I was alone at the reception after check-in. An indian guy asked me to let him in. Since the main glass door was closed and there was no one at reception, he needed me to help him to open from the inside. I was uneasy about this and felt that there should have been someone at reception. I let him in (silly me?) out of courtesy. Once in, he asked me which room I was in. When I refused to tell him, he said don't worry, he used to work here. Strange start to my stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us, It is great to hear you found the location convenient and the cleanliness of your room met your expectations. The room you stayed in was one of our smaller rooms types, which are ideal for a single traveller or guests on a budget. We would love the opportunity to show you one of our more superior room types we have on offer next type you stop in to St Kilda, Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the more spacious layout of a Deluxe room or one of our apartments.

In regards to your strange experience at reception, this is definitely something we’ve taken quite seriously. Security is a number one priority, hence why we secure the hotel after a certain hour by locking the main doors. The desk is manned 24 hours by our staff, however there are certain routine checks that night Audit are to perform on there shifts which includes leaving the desk for a short amount of time. We are now reviewing our procedures to minimise the time the desk is unmanned at any particular hour.

Thank-you again for taking the time again to provide us with your feedback. We look forward to having the opportunity of looking after you for your next stay in one of our more larger room types.

Warm Regards
Cosmopolitan Management

Friendly, clean and quite quiet for a hotel in a bustling suburb of Melbourne. My wife stayed for 10 nights with one of our adult daughters and felt very much at home. The staff were helpful and there was a tram stop right by the hotel. Certainly use it again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the front if you want a quiet stay

Room was good, spacious, clean and comfy. Lot of noise from street, but not a major problem. The front desk were really helpful, booked trips for us, got taxis for us and were really helpful.

The apartment was fine - clean and comfortable. I was travelling with my husband and 20 month old son and there was enough room. However, noise from Base backpackers on both nights was unacceptable and resulted in a disturbed sleep for all 3 of us. I do understand that this is outwith the Cosmopolitan's control but I feel it is worth stating for future visitors. I wouldn't recommend based on this.
The location was great and the service from reception staff was good.

Dear Deb_Neil,

Thank you for taking the time to write your valuable feedback. We thoroughly appreciate receiving guest reviews, inclusive of the criticism which allows us to have the opportunity to continually improve the Cosmopolitan experience.

We are so pleased to hear that your room met your expectations in cleanliness and comfort. Our housekeeping team work hard to continuously meet the superior standards we have come to expect in our properties.

It is very disappointing to hear that the noise of the trams disturbed your stay. We always endeavor to ensure our guests gain nothing less than a restful nights sleep and try our best to accommodate these needs as best we can. External noise is always a challenge and something we continuously take into account when looking to improve our facilities. No doubt if reception was made aware of this we would have done everything in our power to ensure you were moved into a quieter room.

Thank-you again for the feedback, If you choose to travel to St Kilda again in the future, please do not hesitate to give us a call, we would really love to get the chance to welcome you back and accommodate you and your family in one of our quieter rooms types.

Warm Regards,
Cosmopolitan Management

Stopped off here for one night on a road trip and was pleasantly surprised, given the amount I had paid (when I was searching for a place to stay in St Kilda it was on the less expensive side of the majority I looked at).

The free and secure parking was a huge bonus, though it was very busy and I did have to use some creative parking methods to get my car in.

The room was much bigger than I needed, the facilities were good and the chap at the desk was welcoming.

I do have to agree about the traffic noise, however, particularly of the trams. I was ground floor on a separate annexe to the main building and on occassion it did sound like the tram was coming through the wall. I was staying here on a Friday night though, and I couldn't hear any party-goers, though there is a youth hostel across from the main reception that seemed busy outside.

All in all though, would happily stay here again given the good value for money, though maybe higher up than the trams...

Dear 10MC77,

We are absolutely delighted you enjoyed your recent impromptu visit to our hotel. We appreciate your kind comments about our friendly reception staff. Our team pride themselves on always providing exceptional service and it really means a lot to us when we get comments which reflect that.
One of our little added bonuses we like to offer to our guests is our complimentary parking services; finding parking in St Kilda is always difficult so we’re pleased to hear you benefited from this too.
The Traffic noise is something we are working hard to eliminate in all our rooms, our guests gaining a restful nights sleep is our main priority and we are currently looking into our double glazing options for all our room types.
Once again thank you for all your positive comments, we thoroughly look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in future and hope to show you the same hospitality you experienced on your first visit.

Warm Regards,
Cosmopolitan Management

I like the hotel. Parking facilities are easy and good. They do offer some good bargains, so keep looking at their website.
Rooms were spacious and the bathroom was clean and efficient. Toilet position a bit uncomfortable - but not too bad - attachment of toilet to bathroom can be better.
Bed is good, ask for room on the quiet site of the hotel.
Internet is not very reliable (wireless) and other internet only via cable.

First time I stayed in hotel, internet and phone weren't working in room and I had to change rooms.
I had to bring all my stuff down again, change keys and then go the other room (I just unpacked). It would have been nice if somebody would have helped me.

It is a no frills/thrills hotel on a good location. If they maintain it - it will be fine.
Value for money, clean and okay.
Don't expect too much service from reception.
During my stay the fire alarm went of during the night - not once but twice - false alarm, but very disturbing! In the morning no apologies from reception, which I found really disappointing.

Dear Ronnie66,
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, we are pleased you enjoyed so many aspects including our complimentary parking and spacious rooms.
We are currently in the process of upgrading our wireless internet system within the hotel. Next time you stay you should see a sizable difference in speed and connection strength.

Our sincerest apologies for the interruption due to the false fire alarm. We certainly aimed to have had the situation dealt with promptly however due to the nature of the fire alarm we encountered, it was necessary to wait for assistance to ensure the safety of all of our guests.
It is extremely disappointing to hear that reception did not reiterate the apology, this is certainly not the high level of service our regular guests have become accustomed to and is something we have now addressed with our team.

Thank-you again for taking the time again to provide us with your feedback. We look forward to having the opportunity of looking after you again for your next stay at the Cosmopolitan

Warm Regards
