My family and I (husband and two boys aged 11 and six) stayed here for five nights in a two bedroom standard apartment. Our reason for staying was for a small break away and my husband is attending TAFE in Chadstone, so I wanted to be near the city so I could take my sons to Lunar Park, the ACMI Museum, Melbourne Zoo and then to Chadstone Shopping Centre.
We arrived around 6pm and we had to park across the road so I could check us in. The man on reception was very nice and polite, and I paid a $50 bond, which would then be put toward parking on checkout (parking is $10 per night). I was given a key remote for the underground parking, which is shared with Aldi. We then had to access the lift through a door for building B, which was where our room was. This all sounds like a hassle, but I was grateful there was secure parking and the lift took us straight up to our floor.
The first impression of the room was, it seemed a bit small (the lounge area) but we were not going to be sitting or using the room much while we were staying there, only in the evenings to watch TV. The room had a small balcony with a set of chairs and a table, which would be nice to sit out in the warmer months. The kitchen was just the right size with full cooker, a medium-sized fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher. I cooked three times during our stay and it was so handy to have Aldi below, as I could pick up any groceries I needed. The bathroom was average sized, with a hair dryer included and the only big downfall was the water pressure in the shower. Most hotels I've stayed in have excellent water pressure and is one reason I look forward to staying away in a hotel, so if you enjoy great water pressure, you won't like this shower. The rooms were great, my sons had to share a double bed, though I'm sure I had asked for two singles in their room, but wasn't too big of a deal. Our room had two singles joined together, but we had a very comfortable sleep during our stay and didn't disturb each other like we normally do, maybe because we didn't want to end up in the middle! The pillows were quite flat, which didn't bother me because I like a small pillow, but my husband had a sore neck by the second night. The rooms had great wardrobe space with shelves and drawers, with large mirrored doors. I have read previous reviews about the room not being dark enough in the day when the blinds are down, but I didn't have this problem when I had an afternoon nap and the room was dark in the afternoon, when it was bright outside. Overall, the rooms were nice, clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We also found the room to be cosy and warm, even when the heating wasn't turned on and our room was quiet at night.
I found the location excellent and would stay here again just based on where it is. There is a tram stop less then five minutes when you turn left out of reception, that heads into the city. We travelled to Federation square and Melbourne Zoo easily and on our final day, caught the free shuttle bus to the Chadstone Shopping Centre, which left from Federation Square. I wasn't too familiar with the St Kilda area, but we had a little walk around and went to Lunar Park and we found a nice bar for dinner one night called Joes, which had yummy American style food.
I booked this apartment through booking.com and got a cheaper rate then on the hotel website, so I felt we paid a rate that was right for the room. I would definitely stay here again if I visited Melbourne.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the hotel and you found the location to be convenient and suitable to your needs.
Our carpark is located within the ALDI supermarket carpark behind secure gates. Even though you do need to collect a remote to the carpark prior to accessing it, it gives us the control and security of who is accessing our area which in turn keeps your cars safe.
In regards to having 2 queen beds on arrival and not enough pillows on the bed we are always willing to accommodate our guests needs and a quick phone call to reception could have easily got this changed and made for a more comfortable stay for your husband and boys.
Please note, we will always match or beat any advertised rate/special when you book direct with us - either over the phone or on our website. I look forward to welcoming you and your family again at Apartments Ink. Please contact me directly to organise the accommodation for you.
