“Good Family resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Stayed at Sunraysia resort in late June, 2012 for 7 nights with Family.

This is not a 5-star resort, but is basically a timeshare based resort. So if you're looking for the concierge, room service or nightly turndown it's probably best to look elsewhere.

As the timeshare based resort though it really is up with the best.

Villas are clean, a little dated, but spacious, neat and everything works or is fixed promptly.

The grounds are excellent - neat, tropical, lots of picnic areas and barbecues etc.

The facilities are also first class for families. Multiple pool/spa options, mini golf, tennis and regular organised activities for kids and grown ups. I've been bringing my family here on and off from the time they were little to now been grown up and I've never had the "I'm bored" thing. Very rare as most families with young kids will know. My grown up kids still regaularly tag along (although I suspect the Mildura Brewery rather than the mini-golf is now the attraction).

The on-site restauarant serves the basic (what I'd expect in a pub) things, but it is a nice dining area and very good value (also something important for families), especially at lunchtime.

I use Sunraysia Resort regularly as a winter getaway and Mildura is a great place for that. Not hot, but middling temperatures and usually sunny almost every day.

In short, I'd really recommend this for families looking for a break where the kids can be kept busy and activites and meals and things can be minised cost-wise.

Room Tip: Get one close to the pool areas, and a single storey rather than 2 storey (which can be a little noi...

We spent a great week here catching up with the family. We had a comfortable villa and the spa was well used. Also the pool facilities are excellent. The only real complaint is that the childrens playgroud, which is old and unattractive, is not designed for small children. The service was good but in no way outstanding. Still, we would consider it again if the need arose.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

Spent two days here in February with my wife and two kids (6 and 3yo boys).

Lots of different activities for them. Most time spent in the pools (indoor and outdoor) but also played some tennis, basket and mini golf. There is a small arcade and movies are also available to rent.

Accommodation was in a 2 bedroom unit which had all we needed. We did not try the food at the restaurant as we made good use of the kitchen in the unit and the BBQ.

For a two day stay it came at a price, but it is real value for money on the weekly rates.

Will definitely come back for a longer stay.

The resort is old but has all the mod cons. Unit was clean and comfortable, beds a bit soft.
Facilities very well maintained and security walked the resort at night.
Reception staff not that friendly but you only need to see them to get the key and hand it back.
Stayed in school holidays, heaps of kids but after approx 7.00pm all was quiet.
Good for families, pools, spa, sauna, mini golf, tennis courts, half basketball court, playground etc.
There was also kids activities some evenings so parents could dine out, all at a cost.
Overall would recommend to families with kids between 5 & 15yrs

We stayed in house at front, which had gate at rear to enter resort. Seconds away from pools, playground, bar and bistro. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 6 kids ranging 17mth to 14yrs. Comfortable accomodation with plenty of room in master for portacot (supplied). Neat little fenced yard, safe enough for toddlers. Bring an inflatable pool if u just want to chill in back yard.Aircon awesome (36deg outside!). Personal elec BBQ worked really well.
Beautiful resort pool with enough shallow areas for baby to paddle and deeper areas for the bigger ones. Brilliant shade sails over whole pool. Little crowded, but what does one expect at 36 degrees? Indoor pool pleasant, quieter.
Didn't make full use of kids activities, but would if I stay again. There are timed activites including Lego building, gingerbread man painting, mini golf comp, movie night $10 inc. kids meal and staffed!
On first day went to bistro for lunch. Didn't expect much being small restaurant in country town resort, but have to say... Pleasantly surprised! Simple bistro meals like Thai beef salads, parmas, burger, steak sandwich, seafood baskets, calamari priced around $12-15 for lunch, few dollars more for dinner.. Standard kids meals like spag Bol, fish and chips, nuggets etc. about $6.50. The meals were great. I have paid way more in fancy pubs and far less quality. So we went again for dinner and everyone enjoyed it.
We spent most of the days at the pool. Local waterslide was also fun for a coupe hours and brilliant ice cream shop (41 flavours) in town. The Grand Hotel great meals, but not cheap.
The verdict. Awesome for family. And why not hide yourself away in a resort in Mildura? Weather is better than QLD!

Room Tip: Definately book the house for family. Teens can leave out your own gate into resort and littlies nic...

We stayed in a 2-bedroom unit style accommodation. It was great as it was more like a small house with kitchen, dining, lounge, large family bathroom including spa and seperate laundry which was perfect for travelling with young children (2 and half yr old and 8 mth old). The resort had supplied a port-a-cot and high chair at no additional cost. The decor is a little outdated, however not offensive and was clean which is the main thing.

The pool facilities were great. It was 40+ degrees when we stayed, however it did not seem that hot whilst we spent many hours by the oasis pool which included a shallow paddle pool for the small children. The resort also boasts a large indoor spa (which was the size of a standard backyard swimming pool, a sauna, another indoor pool, mini golf, tennis courts just to name a few. The resort is also located close to the main drag of Mildura which was also handy.

We had an outdoor table and chairs right outside our unit (Unit 1) as well as a BBQ which was very handy.

We had to wear arm-bands so security could identify us as guests (staff stressed that this was very important), especially when using the pool and facilities. I was a little disappointed when we saw many people arriving for the day/numerous hours without staying at the resort or paying the small fee to use the facilites. There was no security to be seen.

A great escape from the hustle and bustle. Great for families.

Room Tip: Unit 1 - tucked away in the corner with table/seats and BBQ out the front.
