“OK but Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

My wife and I booked a table for an evening meal. I was initially disappointed not to be seated in the restaurant proper, but rather in the front annex which has glass half-height walls surmounted by clear plastic blinds. The ambience was thus less than I anticipated.
We each had a main, gnocchi and pappardelle respectively. Each dish was quite acceptable, but, at $35 each, overpriced.
The service was amiable, but generally tardy: it was not as efficient as we had been led to expect.
We have eaten widely in the Geelong area, and, based on our single experience, this is NOT one of the better restaurants in the area

“Fabulous food matched with exceptional service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

The staff are really friendly and accommodating and the food never disappoints! Great variety on the menu and the specials are out of the norm for me but I've tried them a couple of times now and have been converted. Would highly recommend.

“Excellent service on a Sunday night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

My wife and I ate at Black Salt for our first wedding anniversary several months ago, and while I vaguely recall excellent food with well considered wine pairings, it is the service that stands out in my memory. Attentive but unobtrusive. Of particular note was our waiter's handling of a very intoxicated pair of men who were unaware of the volume of their expletive laden conversation. Upon pointing the problem out to the waiter, he kept an ear open and interjected with firm civility, improving the atmosphere without the need for conflict.
We happened upon Black Salt as it is one of the few decent venues open on a Sunday night and we are so glad fate led us to this wonderful restaurant.

“Really good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Great hotel and restaurant- you will have a great meal here and be well looked after- the staff are very helpful.
Well priced and one of my favourite places to eat in Geelong- other restaurants look and learn- fresh, airy and friendly and good food too- cant be bad.
