“Quaint surrounding and old fashioned food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Set amoungst the old world charm of the port area and with the Wisteria around the verandah you would expect old fashioned service and food. We had both, good plain wholesome food well served and with large servings. We went for lunch and afterwards decided that there was no need for a meal that night. Sit inside or out on the verandah or in the garden on a good day. Very relaxing, very satisfying, very good value.

“Good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

The Wisteria offers a different range of options for breakfast, including home made golden pancakes with ice cream, to which extras (like bacon or a berry compote) can be added. Serving sizes are generous, and food fresh and delicious! Loose leaf tea served here, rather than tea bags. Value for money.

“What a disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

After reading so many wonderful reviews, we were looking forward to having breakfast here. The building is located in the Port and is quite olde worlde. There were only a couple more diners when we arrived (9:30am) for breakfast.

I ordered Eggs Benedict ($16) and my husband had bacon and eggs with two slices of sourdough. Before we had taken our first bite, we knew we were not going to enjoy it - the plates were stone-cold, and felt as though they had been taken out of the fridge. Consequently, the food was already starting to cool down by the time we received it. Both dishes were quite large, and it then became a battle to eat the food before it went the way of the plates. Unfortunately we didn't succeed, and what would have been a very nice breakfast became a distaster. What is it with cooks/chefs who put hot food on a cold plates?

Coffee and green tea were good, service was perfunctory. Perhaps we arrived too late for breakfast! Wouldn't bother again.
