“Great bed...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2011

This had been a week of staying in a different country hotel each night and this one was outstanding. The room was massive, well appointed and in my opinion better than the five star hotel in Melbourne I stayed in recently. Bed was excellent - I wanted to take it with me. Even though the room was on a busy street I didn't hear anything. Next time I am in Ballarat, I will be staying here.

Clean, comfortable room with ample features including a range of tv channels and two recent release movie channels, microwave and toaster and free high speed wireless internet (jackpot). Pool was well kept and outside area (stairwell, footpath, gardens etc) were well maintained. Spa in room was average, very loud when it cleans itself afterward and the shower is not separate but above/within the spa, otherwise clean, well designed bathroom. The place was mostly quiet, there is a bus stop out the front and most importantly a 24 hour McDonalds, so some nights may be louder than others. Otherwise the location was excellent, essentially part of the main city but away from the busy main roads (its on way one street), with a short walk or drive to many tourist attractions including Sovereign Hill and has an excellent choice of dinner options surrounding it. The morning's delivered breakfast was always on time and very tasty. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and will stay there again.

I like to stay somewhere within walking distance of places to eat. This place fits the bill. First impressions count and my first impression was great as the heating in the room was on and I was greated to a warm room on a cold night. The room is comfortable but very basic. It was cold and I made the mistake of leaving the air on. Hell it was noisy.

We booked this place from a last minute deal as we were coming into Ballarat to visit some family for a couple of nights. The offer was pretty good value for what we got.

The spa motel room we had was a great size, and packed with most of what you need (fridge, tea/coffee, iron, pillows, blankets, hair-dryer). The spa was a nice touch for a little bit extra money and helped with the relaxation.

However it was a long weekend and the place was busy. And the trouble with a lot of these sort of motel designs with the carpark out the back facing into the rooms is that all the noise is channelled into the rooms, so when you have drunk loud people who don't respect others at 4am talking and shouting, it can be a little noisy! Of course you can't fault the motel management for this, unless they could have known these folks were going to be trouble. And when I rang up reception at 4am after the party continued on as it had been for several hours, the after hours manager did go and speak to them. I know there's not much you can do but it did however take me an hour to get back to sleep and I didn't feel fantastic that day of course, and because when you go away you do expect to get some relaxation in I was a little disappointed. The next night I slept with the TV and air-con on so that the background noise covered the carpark noise. This was ok, but a little wasteful just to get around this issue. Plus as some people also commented on in other reviews, the air con unit is a little noisy when clicking on/off while running.

The motel is close to the main road, but you couldn't tell as the road facing windows were double glazed so no noise from the front.
The motel facilities are pretty standard, and the heated pool is good in the cooler climate of Ballarat. The motel is close to the town centre with mostly fast food places across the road, but also within walking distance of restaurants further into town.

The staff member (who was on the desk everday!) was helpful, polite and professional.

So overall a nice, comfortable, convenient motel to stay in if you need somewhere close to town, but I wouldn't recommend if you're a light sleeper (not that I am!).

Thank you for your Trip Advisor review and for taking the time to do so.

I was very sorry to read that you had a disturbed sleep during your stay.
In relation to the airconiditioning and heating units we are in the process of slowly replacing them so that our guests can enjoy a more effective and quieter system in their room.
Our central location is ideal and does have a great deal of benefits for our guests. I am pleased you encountered our lovely staff who take great pride in making our guests feel welcome.

Thanks again.

Booked direct with hotel over the phone during peal period, but had a great spacious family room, with a king size bed, and a extended sofa bed. Located centrally in Ballarat, with restaurants nearby (we went to Hogs Breath, though was also recommended the RSL). Room very clean. Off street parking.

Staff very pleasant, and helpful. Batroom very spacious. Good touches with the free internet and shortbread. Hotel had pool, though we didn't use it.

we booked this on short notice over the internet but yet again trip advisor came through. Centrally located (about 1/2 way between soveriegn hill and city centre (but we are not talking long distances). it was walking distance to food, clean rooms and good service. we had a family room which meant the kids had their own room which was good.

I have stayed here on about 10 occasions over the past few months.

The staff are brilliant, friendly and know how to deliver the right level of personal service.

The rooms have obviously had a recent refurb - they are warm and cosy and very modern (much better than what I was initially expecting!).

Great location - very central and only a couple of kms from Soverign Hill.

Highly recommended.
