“Great local beer restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We had lunch with our kids there back in October and it was so great that we decided to have our staff Christmas party there, and it was fantastic. The food, service and atmosphere were all great and this is great value for money. If you are after a great beer and great food, this is the place to go. We absolutely loved it.

“Mallow Hotel Restaurant - Great food and people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We stopped at the Mallow for dinner on our way from Halls Gap to Melbourne in mid-November. We were on the early side and the kitchen was not yet open. Nevertheless the staff was very accommodating giving us menus and talking through the specials and taking our orders while we enjoyed some of the fine craft brews. As soon as the kitchen opened they put in our orders so we could enjoy our dinners and be on our way as soon as was reasonable. I had pork belly that had a wonderful crisp skin, yum, and while I can't say what exactly the other 3 in our party had, we were all very pleased with our meals. Superb food, pleasant, accommodating staff, what more could you want?

“Great meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I have dined at this hotel twice prior to Christmas. It is very busy so you need to book but the food is worth the effort. Fantastic steak which was tender and tasty. Husband just loves the extensive beer selection, nothing mainstream which is a treat for Ballarat. The wine selection is also good. We took out-of-town visitors with us and they enjoyed it too. Atmosphere feels like Melbourne and the bar staff are very friendly, gorgeous and fun.

“Up there with the best in town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Had tea here fathersday 2012. Booked table of three and all dads get a free beer/cider.
Had the antipasto platter for entree which was really good and at $20 was good value, nice meats and grilled veg, good selection of cheese and nice smoked salmon in it.
For the main I had a 300g scotch fillet which was marvellous, my son had prawn pasta which he ate every last little bit and wife had lamb racks that came with with the shavings from the shoulder so it also was a good meal.
For three mains, a twenty dollar entree share platter a bottle of white wine, three beers and three soft drinks all for under $140 so they can't put a foot wrong.
Will be going back again
