“Perfect place to stay if visiting Sovereign Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2010

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Ballarat. We purchased our entry to Sovereign Hill with our accomodation which was very convenient. Lodge guests are able to enter Sovereign Hill via a back entrance and we were also given entry back to Sovereign Hill on our day of departure which was very handy as one day just wasn't quite enough to see everything (at a relaxed pace anyway). Staff at the Lodge were very friendly and the continental breakfast was fine - held in a dining room where you sit at a table with your room number. The room was clean and well appointed, quite comfortable. Would certainly stay there again.

This is the 2nd time we've been to Sovereign Hill with a family of 10, and the 2nd time we've stayed at the Sovereign Hill Lodge.

We love it. The accommodation is excellent, with comfy beds, good heating and a good bathroom. We stayed in 3 rooms next to each other, which was very convenient, and didn't have us disturbing the other people by running room to room.

The breakfast is already in your room, which makes it very convenient. The only trouble was that the fire alarm went off when we made toast. It was easy to stop, though, with waving a folder under it to clear the smoke.

The great thing about staying here is the access to Sovereign Hill itself. It's easy to access by your swipe card in a gate at the back, and you have access as long as you stay there. It was also good to take purchases back to the room.

I recommend Sovereign for kids and for adults interested in history, horses, foundry works and gold panning.

We arrived around 2 pm having not previously booked so we were suprised to get a room. We took the whole package as it were, entry to Sovereign Hill, dinner and evening show as well as accommodation on site. Good thing was as residents we had access for remainder of day we arrived and all of following day.So try to arrive fairly sharp to maximise the time you have in the attraction.
Dinner with evening show was okay but did include drinks so wasn't to bad. Very limited choice and my lamb was suprisingly tough.Partners chicken was lovely. Show good but not spectacular, but still glad we did the whole hog as it were. Ice cream on site was lovely. Room was very pleasant but close to stairs so could be noisy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sovereing Hill Lodge in Ballarat Australia very much. We found a lovely modern, clean room with a key to the backdoor of the park. We spent the entire day at the park and had a lot of fun. We got to pan for gold, visit the blacksmith, go for a carriage ride, buy sweets from the candy shop, visit a school, etc. The park is very well done, you feel like you've just stepped back in time.

We stayed at the lodge because we bought the package so we could see the park and then go to the Blood on the Cross show in the evening. The package came with a dinner (which was fine, nothing spectacular) and then the show. The show Blood on the Cross I hate to say it is a bit cheesy. We were expecting this amazing re-encatment but instead it's just a light show with a narrator. The best part of the show was walking back to the lodge in the evening in the park after it was closed and we got to see the actual Southern Cross, that was amazing!

We pre-ordered the hot breakfast the night before and it arrived on time and nice and hot. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night, we would have liked to have stayed two nights and explored more of the lodge. All in all it was a great experience!

We stayed here for one night with our 2yr old and 10 weeks old children. Nice cozy rooms and fantastic for visiting Sovereign Hill as you can enter via a door which links the town with the accomodation. Very handy, especially with children as you can pop back to the room for a break or a drink whenever you like.

We purchased our package through our local motoring body for a discounted price which included. Entry into Sovereign Hill for 2 days, an evening meal, Sound and Light show and accommodation with continental breakfast. We are a family of four and we all enjoyed our selves. Sovereign Hill it self is great entertainment but also has extras to purchase once in the gate (horse and cart rides, underground mind tour etc). We had a lovely meal before the great show that evening. The kids could really relate to the whole history of it by seeing a reinactment like this. Accommodation was a lot better than we expected, our room had a queen bed and 2 sets of bunks. Everything was nice and clean. The bathroom I dont think was very old. Breakfast was your basic continental, as much as you wanted. A hot breakfast could be preordered the night before for an additional cost. All in all we had a great time and everything was great.

we arrived for check in about 10pm and checked out about 10am so did not really get a chance to look around here. our room was in the residence and though small was nicely decorated. the shower had great pressure. we liked that the continental breakfast was in the room so we did not have the rush the kids (who had had a late night) to get ready for breakfast. our daughter liked the novelty of sleeping on a trundle though we are not sure why only sheets were supplied for it and no doona. as we were too tired to make a fuss we improvised using bed spreads for her. we found the room to be quite noisy but enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the birds in the morning. sovereign hill was amazing we loved it. make sure you stay around for the dinner and show blood on the southern cross. they really add to the whole experience.
