“Great Service, Great Quiet Location, Great Facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Stayed here in the caravan over Melbourne Cup weekend 2012 with our three children. When we arrived, we were treated like we owned the place. If you want to learn about customer service - you can learn from the best here. Exceptional. Shown our caravan spot while being given the run-down of everything possible. This is a small caravan park but the caravan spaces are very well spread out with plenty of space. Has an indoor pool which we visited daily and the toilet block was spotless and exceptionally well kept.

And yes, we did the complimentary pancakes at the park with honey and lemon and the movie nights - which we enjoyed very much. The caravan park is situated out of town adding to the quietness.

We visited Ballarat on the best possible weekend (Melbourne Cup Weekend) where there was the Springfest - markets and activities around the entire Lake Wendouree. What a day - walking around the entire lake where there were stall after stall, vintage car and caravan displays, and entertainers. Full-on. We also fitted in the standard Sovereign Hill visit (noting if you buy a daily pass, you can get it stamped at the Post Office in the main street of Sovereign Hill enabling you to re-enter free on the next day - two days for price of one). So we visited Sovereign Hill over two consecutive days which suited us as we had little children and trying to fit in everything in the one day would have been a bit much.

Next time we visit Ballarat we're staying here. Wonderful holiday. Thank you to Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park.

Room Tip: Visit during Melbourne Cup weekend to experience Springfest.

We are staying at the Windmill Caravan Park at Ballarat and love it. Drive through site. Really friendly staff and it has everything. Tennis court, pool (new one being built), playground, bouncing balloon. Shower block old style but clean. Showers are molded style and have a shower curtain!! Water hot and wonderful. Would stay here any time and would recommend it highly.

This was a working holiday for my hubby, daughter and I. Playing in the teacher games and support the AEU. We stayed in a studio type room that had everything we needed. A small kitchenette, bathroom and beds for all to sleep in. The staff were very welcoming on arrival, giving us a small tour of the premises and letting us know some fun activities for our daughter to do while we stayed. Kids club, run by Corie, our daughter made us come back by 5.30 each day to join in and meet new kids and play the fun games Corie had planned for an hour. ( great for down time for parents needing a small break) Next was movie time at 7.30 where the kids got a bag of popcorn to kick back and watch a kid friendly movie. Our daughter also loved the pool and the huge jumping parachute where she learnt how to do a cartwheel on over the five days we stayed. A voucher for a bottomless cup of coffee was also given on arrival to have at a bake house in the heart of Ballarat. (Thankyou) We would definitely recommend this caravan park for families to enjoy a family friendly holiday. Our daughter has already requested to go back again and we have looked up other Big4 caravan parks across Australia that we will definitely visit.

Room Tip: Even though situated on the outskirts of Ballarat, it is only 5 mins drive to central Ballarat.

Apron arrival I wad greeted with a friendly sincere smile and it continued throughout the stay. The Swagman was our Cabin for our stay and had everything we needed and also included 2 flat screen tv"s which was to relax after a fulfilled day. The amenities fir the kids are great , indoor pool, playgrounds, bikes etc etc everything they advertise is great. My little boy attended the scheduled activities and had a wow of a time from games to the movies and popcorn. It was my first stay at a Big 4 park and I have now become a member due to my experience - Kids Heaven
Thanks Windmill

We stayed three nights over Easter at the Windmill. Our accommodation was in the Swagman Cabin and our stay was delightful. We couldn't have asked for more. The cabin was very neat, clean and a joy to stay in. We were blown away by the excellent customer service from the minute we arrived until departure. We would definitely recommend for a stay. There are heaps of things for children to do and the pancake Saturday morning definitely draws a crowd. The jumping pillow was a meeting spot for most of the park's children residents, and the swimming pool gets a workout, as does the tennis court and basketball ring.

Room Tip: If booking for the summer season and laughter and fun from kids having a great time will detract fro...

My family and I (2A + 2 Teens) have just returned from the Windmill Holiday Park after spending the Easter break there.

On arrival, my first impression was that the park was relatively small compared to other Big 4's that we have stayed in but the atmosphere and facilities offered quickly changed my perception. The park is located on the Western side of Ballarat (Alfredton) which is a very short drive into the CBD, about 5 minutes by car (straight down the main street - Sturt Street). Our camping site size was adequate for my caravan which is a Jayco Dove. The facilities offered at the park are as follows:
- 2 camp kitchens
- Games room
- Sauna/Spa and separate indoor swimming pool
- Standard kids playground including a big jumping pillow
- Laundry
- Toilet and shower amenities
- Go kart hire for the kids (pedal cars).

The positives for the park which added that special touch were:
- organised kids activities such as Easter egg hunt, movie nights (every night), free pancake breakfasts on Saturdays. (I have seen this advertised in other Big 4's but never seen it done).
- Wine tasting nights
- Music played in the toilets/shower areas
- VERY clean toilets and showers

The negatives (which are minor):
- Our site had access to a power pole for 4 outlets but there were only 3 water taps available for use/connection directly underneath the pole. Who missed out on the tap? Unfortunately us....so we had to make many trips to the laundry to fill up bucket
- Our site was basically dirt (mud when it rained towards the end of our stay). Grass would be nice and concrete slabs for all sites!
- Perhaps a little more consideration to cater for teenagers. The park is well catered for young children but the teens can get bored!
- Free WiFi internet was barely accessible at our site (2 streets away from the main office)
- Camp kitchen near reception was still locked up at 8.00am

Overall, an enjoyable stay!

Cheers.
