“fabulous, charming & very relaxing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2010

we stayed for one night only but would have love to stayed longer. it was fantastic way to finish off our week long motor home trip around the Tassie. The reception was most helpful. we were able to check in couple of hours earlier and she was fabulous. The first impression of the building & our room on 3rd floor was instantly welcomed by the modern decor with old charm of the building. The bathroom was very tastefully updated with a deep spa bath. The room was big & ceiling was high. Reverse aircon was very effective in keeping us warm & cosy throughout the night. The place was quiet & it was very good value for money with wotif.com special. I would most definitely recommend it to my friends & stay there again.

After having issues with another B'n'B in Launceston, we moved to the Auldington. I can't really fault this hotel, it was clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and most importantly, in my opinion, well heated!
We opted for a room with a bath and the tub was big enough for two and wonderfully deep.
My only complaint, and it's not a serious one, is that upon check-in we were asked if we wished to purchase breakfast plate which included croissants, to which we naturally agreed. What they didn't mention til later was that the breakfast is brought up to your room the night before, not in the morning. Good in principle, except the croissants were stone cold and frankly, I prefer mine warm. Also, must mention that the coffee was only instant.
I felt very comfortable at the Auldington, with all the mod-cons you'd expect of a good hotel and I'd definitely recommend staying there. Just go out for breakfast!

We stayed here recently on our Tasmanian adventure and found it to be a good base for exploring Launceston.

The building was restored only a few years ago and was of a reasonably high standard and the rooms contained all that one needed.

Breakfast was quite simple but when the total cost is taken into account it mattered not as overall it was great value for money and we simply ate breakfast daily at nearby cafes.

To sum up was a worthwhile experience and we would recommend it to visitors.

A quaint alternative to a regular hotel. Room and bathroom were very spacious and decor clean and modern. Lovely views over the city from the common balconies on each floor, with a pleasant communal room. Bottom of door did let in a lot of light, but a well-placed towel fixed that. Hotel was quiet, but there didn't seem to be many people staying there anyway. Bed was comfortable. At a special rate of $120, it was very good value.

We had a fantastic stay here. This is a restored convent; lovely gardens, lots of atmosphere. The only complaint is the beds could be a bit more comfy. The bathrooms are fantastic (we had a spa bath) and the service is warm and friendly.

This place is fantastic. The atmosphere is delightful. The rooms are modern and spotlles and the staff go out of their way to help. The rates are reasonable for the size and quality of the rooms. This place is the best kept secret in Tasmania. Hope to visit again soon.

This is my second stay at Auldington... and both times we have had room deals, making the price reasonable at $119. Otherwise the room was supposedly $298 - and the room is definitely not worth that price. We got a fantastic king size bed and deep bath, but only a very small window on the side which wasn't fantastic. However the hotel is quiet, but you can hear movement from the floors above. But for the price it was a good deal - not including breakfast, but the cupboard is fully equipped for takeaway or breaky cutlery. My only dislike is the gap under the door which allowed the orange hall light to beam into the room all night, a bit off putting. But overall a nice quiet sleep. We had dinner at the Northern Club which is a great deal on a Monday and Tuesday night as they have a $14 menu. Fantastic.
