We found the hotel satified our requirements very well. Good location, rooms good for the price we paid, food in the restaurant was good and found prices on par with what was in other places. staff friendly and very helpfull. happy to stay again.

I really just needed a bed for a one night stop over in Launceston and booked a mystery night with
one of the booking sites. I was concerned when I read some dodgy reviews on the apathy of the reception staff. To my surprise I could not have been happier.

Lucy on reception was friendly and kind making me feel incredibly welcome. Room was big and spacious. Bathroom was a bit dated but not a concern.

Central, convenient and great. Would recommend it

2nd time we've stayed here and would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Launceston. Clean rooms, friendly counter staff and central to everywhere. But........ This time we booked through a Wotif mystery hotel. Got a bargain pricewise but the mystery hotel was advertised as 4.5 stars. We got a room on the fourth floor. Standing in the bath with a plastic curtain to have a shower might have been 4.5 stars 20 years ago but not in 2013.

Located right in the CBD of Launceston the Mercure is good value for money. Although the rooms are showing their age, I was quite happy with the cleanliness of the room and the helpful staff. The in house restaurant was very nice and it is a short walk to some good shopping or a cafe.

Have stayed here alot and generally OK.
However their charge for internet use is unacceptable. In any case I was not asked if I needed to use internet ! A small oversight.
Parking as in Hobart costs extra as the parking is run by an outside company. Parking area is tight and sometimes can be difficult to get in.

Excellent location however, close to just about everything.

Usually stay here for the location. I believe some floors do not have air conditioning which is really strange, so best check before booking.
Heating in my room was with a small electric heater which look like an add on.
Fairly effective, but they would do better with installing a wall mounted reverse cycle system.
Happy hour at 5.30 is a nice touch with drinks well below normal prices.

We are continually focused on improving the facilities and services of the hotel; hence your comments are very valuable to us. Apologies for the oversight with regards to Internet charges at the hotel, we do offer all our guest 30min complimentary use per day within the hotel and if wish to continue using that service, additional charges apply.

For the comfort of our guests who prefer air conditioning rooms these are available in our King, Privilege Rooms and Suites which are located on the 5th and 6th floors of the hotel.

I was very pleased to read that you took advantage of the Happy Hour in the Tram Bar.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we look forward to welcoming you again next time you are in Launceston.

We stayed in the hotel twice during May and were impressed with the quality of the hotel's personnel - friendly, helpful and quite professional. During our last stay, we enjoyed the "Privilege" floor where the rooms are very good. We found the rooms on the lower floor very tired and would like to see some money spent on updating them.
We rated the hotel 4 on our last stay but only a 3 for our first stay in May, purely on the difference in room and I don't mean because of the added extras on the Privilege floor.

The receptionist (I forgot her name) was absolutely lovely and most helpful. Basic rooms with everything you need. Very good location right in the city. I think however we were placed on the kids floor and so we heard crying babies during the night. Other than that a great hotel.
